What do do after firing my attorney as far as next court appearence

Asked by a user in Knoxville, TN - 5 months ago.

You need to have a new lawyer before your next court date. The attorney can request a continuance. If you don't get a new lawyer before firing the old lawyer or your court date, the judge will not grant a continuance and will expect you to move forward with your case. Depending on the type of case, the judge may not allow you to fire your lawyer until you get a new one.

If the revocation period is over, then you should not have any issues getting a DL in another state, you can't get reinstated in TN until everything is paid off, and you can't drive in TN.

What happens if the CUSTODIAL parent dies and the non-custodial parent was paying child support, is that terminated upon death?

Asked by a user in Hendersonville, TN - 5 months ago.

If the PRP/Custodial Parent dies, and absent any restrictions on parenting, yes, the ARP/NCP becomes the sole caregiver of the child. If there were child support arrears and any State involvement in the collection of child support, you may still owe a child support balance, but the current order should terminate absent any deviations. Also, you should make sure that the court jacket and child support office is updated and reflect the change in circumstances.

How can i get may custody to my kid when i dont got myname on the brith certificate and my kid has cancer at st jude

Asked by a user in Memphis, TN - 6 months ago.

Do you want custody? or just visitation? Are you trying the take the child away from the mother? If you want your name on the birth certificate, and there is no dispute to paternity, then via a parentage action in the Juvenile court, you can be added by consent or petition. Once the parentage action is initiated, the mother may request or the state may demand a child support order. At the same time, you may request or petition for visitation rights. If you want to change status to...

I was caught shoplifting today, court is tomorrow morning because they did not send me to jail. Can this be taken off my record?

Asked by a user in Kingsport, TN - 7 months ago.

You either need to hire a lawyer or ask the court to appoint one to represent you. Don't make any statements or attempt to negotiate the case on your own. There is nothing you can say to the police, prosecutor or court that can help you without first speaking to a lawyer.

Do i need an attorney ?

Asked by a user in Nashville, TN - about 1 month ago.

You received a misdemeanor citation for a criminal offense. Check the citation to see if you have to report before court for booking and processing. Those facts above are enough to carry a case, you should not speak to anyone about the facts of the case without your attorney present and you should not make any statements to the police or online. Most of the misdemeanor sexual offenses do not carry a registry requirement. You are required to have an attorney, either one you hire or a...

Asked by a user in Nashville, TN - 5 months ago.

If your probation is violated then you will have to serve the full sentence. You may get jail credit, depending on the terms of your probation. You haven't specified if you were charged with misdemeanor or felony sexual assault. Either offense can carry from 11/29 to 2 years for a first time offender.
