Food stamp benefits is deemed not to be a factor when qualifying for naturalization. An LPR who is a qualifying alien under the public heath laws can secure SNAP and food stamp benefits. The good news is that if you obtain food stamps, it is now an automatic means to seek a fee waiver under I-912 fee waiver (category one of the waiver). Good luck. In the past two months I have obtained the I-912 foodstamp waiver for 5 clients and can report that the institution of a formal means since last...

Both of my colleagues have provided excellent comments. If you win the DV lottery, there will be an immediate immigration visa available to you, but as with any other immediate visa being available, you would still have to go through the AOS process. Thus, you will have to explain the time in US after the F1 was ended.

I agree with my colleagues. The best option is to prive all of the facts to an experienced immigrationa ttorney for a legal opinion. The current immigration bill in the Senate may not resemble the final result and anyone who promsies that it will help is either guessing or trying to steal your monry.

I agree with Attorney Behar. Damage based on what is filed, amount of evidence provided, errors in answers, etc... often results in delays, request for evidence, and even worse results.

I agree with my coleagues. Immigration law treats criminala djudications differently then criminal law. You should discuss this issue with your criminal attorney who can then guide you with the assistance of an experienced immigration attorney. The USSC in Padilla case decided that criminal attorneys now have an affirmative duty to provide guidance to aliens in criminal court. If you have the PD representing you, most PD offices now have immigration attorneys who assist with consultations. Good...

First, do you plan on becing a US attorney of a UK barrister/solicitor? If its the the US option, you should try to do your undergrad work in US as you will have to follow the LSAT, ABA law school then State bar exam route. If it is the latter, you should contact the career teacher at your school. Personally, I attented Dalhousie Law School and after obtaining an LLB became a barrister in Canada. Several years later moved to US, had to do LSAT, went back to law school for a JD and then...

It is never advisable to rely on the media for opinions as to changes in immigration law. Congress is going to have great difficulty under the current political mood to agree to any chnages in immigration law that will result in any amnesty for specific groups. You can always check on the USCIS website for recent developments in immigration legislation and or the Department of Justice web site as such locations have content provided directly by the Federal Government and or its agencies.

I agree with Attorney Shusterman. If the I-130 is pending you can request that USCIS consider the newly filed I-485 with the I-130, but there is no guarantee it will be done as a single interview.

Attorney Chen has provided you with an excellent comment. Also, Attorney Glicksman is correct. We have informed AVVO of the fact their computer assumes when a poster types "a lien" it is a typ for "alien" and posts in the immigration section.
