Oftentimes a person's perception of what is being done behind the scenes relating to an accident case is clouded by the feeling that 17 months is too long of a time frame. Complex accident and personal injury cases can often take years to settle or proceed to trial. Although you are entitled to fire your (son's) present attorney or law firm, it is advisable to seek a resolution to your disagreements with how the case is being handled, first. Sounds like a clearing of the air "sitdown" with your son's lawyer is past due.

In Florida, it may be that there is more than one party who may in fact be responsible for your fall and subsequent injury. There are many mitigating factors that may determine whether you have a valid claim or not - I suggest you contact an attorney who is well-versed in all aspets of slip and fall accident representation.
