Can I get paid for diminished value as part of my claim from the responsible partys insurance company

You should consult a CA attorney about your claim for damages for the diminished value of your vehicle against the at fault party.

Employer failed to file life insurance policy that was filled out in August of 2014. They apologized and that was it. I am 61.

If this is a term life policy it would only provide benefits upon your death.
