I left a jet ski and trailer on the freeway. What is my liability if I don't desire to pay the storage and towing fees?

Asked by a user in Placentia, CA - almost 3 years ago.

Although I am not licensed to practice in and am unfamiliar with any specific CA statutes which may apply to this situation, I would expect that the tow/storage company will sell your jet ski & trailer at an auction (otherwise you could argue that any sale was not a "commercially reasonable sale", not an "arms-length transaction" or represented a sweetheart deal to a friend of the tow/storage company owner/employee. The seller will likely tack on significant fees and expenses to its tow/...

Can I sue a 16 year old girl for wrecking my car, or do I need to sue her parents or their insurance company?

Asked by a user in Missouri - almost 3 years ago.

Not being admitted to practice in or familiar with Missouri law, I would recommend that you consult with a local personal injury attorney and look into pursuing a claim (against the 16 year old) under any automobile insurance that may cover the 16 year old (other than your policy, which does not afford you collision coverage) and make a prperty damage claim under that policy (that covers the 16 year old, such as her or her parent's automobile insurance policy) in order to get the repairs to...

How long does an insurance company have to come after an insurance settlement from an auto accident?

Asked by a user in Toledo, OH - almost 3 years ago.

Although I am not admitted to practice and not knowledgable of Ohio or Michigan law, oftentimes your insurance company pays some or all of your medical bills, under your first party benefits coverage, and is not entitled to recover those monies (paid by your insurer toward the medical bills) from you - despite the fact that you obtain a recovery from the at-fault driver. I would recommend that you contact a local personal injury attorney & ask that attorney about your insurer's right to...

Am I responsible for Medical Bills?

Asked by a user in Pearl, MS - almost 3 years ago.

Since you received the medical treatment, you will be responsible for the medical bill(s). However, you should consult with a personal injury in your area and have that attorney (1) check to see if the owner of the baseball field has "medical payments" coverage which generally pays medical expenses (up to a certain amount, if incurred within a given time after the injury), and/or (2) try to identify the kid(s) who struck the ball that hit you (and the other boy(s) playing with the batter) and...
