    Bad Experience

I had a very bad experience with Michael Lectman. I went to him for my divorce and he made me all kinds of promises. I gave him a hefty retainer and didn't hear from him for months. I thought I was allowing him time to work on my case but when I finally called him, it turned out that he had done nothing. He blew through the retainer and did nothing. He didn't tell me when the retainer was gone and presented me with a huge bill when I fired him. I refused to pay. He put a lien on my house and took me to court. Of course he won...what judge is going to rule against a lawyer? Find another attorney. There are hundreds out there.

Michael L. Lechtman’s response: “I have not successfully sued a client for fees in over 15 years. I have never placed a lien on a former client's house because of fees that were owed. This review was not posted by a former client of mine on April 1, as the record will disclose it was not physically possible for me to have a client with such grievances. The public records of the state of Florida will also disclose no liens posted by me on anyone's property for fees owed for more than 20 years. This review is so inconsistent with the positive reviews that are posted, that I hope anyone who reads it will ignore it completely, as nothing more than a personal attack by someone, or some entity, for their own selfish reasons. I always place the needs and desires of my clients above my own personal interests. I fight for my client's rights as much as any attorney I know. I wish the person, or entity, who posted this fictitious review would have the courage to contact me directly, so that whatever grievance they might have could quickly and professionally be resolved. If for some strange reason this person actually was a client of mine, but twisted the facts on this website and others out of malice, if I did something wrong, why would the judge in this fictitious a lawsuit I supposedly filed for fees rule in my favor as to the fees that were owed? Why will the public records of Florida disclose that have there been no actionable grievances filed against me with the Florida Bar for more than 40 years? One thing I would suggest, if you're going to lie about a lawyer, at least have the courtesy to spell his name correctly.”
