Case Conclusion Date: April 12, 1994
Practice Area: Contracts / Agreements
Outcome: Winning appeal of long-arm jurisdiction challenge
Description: In this case, an internet service located in Miami tried to sue a New York travel agency based upon a contract for internet-based services. The plaintiff internet services provider claimed that place of payment dictated jurisdiction. In my appellate brief, I successfully argued that place of payment alone does not constitute sufficient contacts with the local state of an internet provider, to allow a user of the internet service to be sued in the internet provider's state.
