There are actually no mandatory penalties for a DUI in a federal park. In the Southern District of Florida, the U.S. Attorney's office usually requests a fine and some type of alcohol treatment.

Trial? Why not try and get the case dismissed without risking a trial. If you have already paid back most of the money maybe the State Attorney's office would be willing to drop your case once who have paid in full. You should probably interview two or three lawyers with expierence in criminal defense and hire one of them to represent you in this matter. Felonies are serious matters. I can help your friend. Have her give me a call at (305) 374-3998. I understand that she can not afford to pay an attorney. I remember what it is like to be 21, drunk and in college. I'd be happy to help her out -but please tell her to be sober when she calls!
You should interview two or three lawyers who practice criminal defense. Meet them in their offices and bring any paperwork you have with you. If you have a witness it would be a good idea to ask your witness to come with you to the meetings. This way the attorney will have a good idea about your case and will be able to advise you. Sometimes a person on probation is ordered to not drink to excess. If that is the case one drink would not be a violation. Even if it is a violation however, judges a supposed to consider the seriousness of the violation before sending someone to prison. If your boyfriend was seen having one glass of wine at dinner and someone else was driving for...

An attorney with experience in family court matters should be able to help you. A family court judge may have the authority to order your husband to simply not drive with your children in his car. Many states also have special laws on the books which provide a way for a family member of someone with a serious drug or alcohol problem to go into court and request that the person undergo court ordered treatment. I also think you should consider contacting your local District or State Attorney'...
As a general rule anyone charged with a violation of criminal law should have an attoreny represent them. I strongly suggest that you attempt to contact an attorney in Burlington who practices criminal defense. Most states will allow a first time offender in your son's position to enter into some type of diversion program which would entitle them to a dismissal of the charges and allow them to seal their record. You should realize however that some judges will consider this a serious offense....
