To get right to the point- Mr. Chen honestly went above and beyond my expectations.
It is a case where the landlord had the home in foreclosure and as tenants, my boyfriend and I advised her we were to leave and find another place to which she filed an eviction. Very long story short he has put in work by filing motions and has achieved results I wished for but wasn't sure would happen against this scam artist of a landlord. I will definitely recommend him to anyone I know going through a situation like this.

I spoke with Mr. Chen via phone with some questions regarding the Florida Lemon Law. He was very helpful, knowledgeable, resourceful, professional and took the time needed to answer all my questions. Highly recommend Mr. Chen!

We were wrongfully sued for eviction. We were financially strapped and down to 7 hours to file answer. He had answered a question posted here earlier when I first got summons. He pointed me in right direction and offered help if needed. I had done my research and then when I went to file we ran into a huge problem. We were under the mobile home act and very few local lawyers knew much about it and any that did wanted more money then I had. After exhausting all options I called his office to get advice on how to proceed. Halfway through me telling the details, he offered to take case on contingency and drive an hour to represent us. Within 2 hours he had written and sent out answer and defense. We would have lost our home that we had worked hard to pay off to people that lied and figured that they could bully us. He is one of those people that makes you realize that there are still good people in the world. I would highly recommend him. I probably talked to 25 different lawyers and most didn't even want details, and saw us as we didn't pay rent on lot and were looking for excuse to get out. He actually took time to listen and understand what we were going through. The owner of our park is now back pedaling and the tune has changed thanks to Mr Chen.

I hired Dennis for an eviction and my biggest concern was time. It was done within 3 weeks. He is very knowledgeable in this field. It was done very fast and he exceeded my expectations.

Dennis did not help me in my case. My landlord refused to return my security deposit for bogus reasons. I went to Dennis for help. The case was a bit complex as the man I dealt with as my landlord was technically my landlord's agent, and the actual landlord lived overseas. Nevertheless, Dennis assured me in our first meeting he could help. He took my case based on contingency and only collected about $250 for filing fees. After I left the meeting I felt confident, though it was short lived. Weeks passed and I never heard a word from Dennis, and the check I wrote for filing fees was never cashed. Finally, I e-mailed and called him and he responded saying he was working on the case. The next couple of days I saw the check was cashed. Weeks passed yet again, and I still did not hear any update on the case. This was essentially how our relationship went. I would not hear a word from Dennis for weeks and even months at a time until I took it upon my part to call or e-mail him to find out what was going on. He has a terrible lack of communication. Needless to say, almost a whole year passed and nothing was accomplished in my case. I received ONE phone call from him in almost one year, and it was the day before a supposed trial date, saying "there was no trial" because he could not serve my landlord. I finally wrote him a final e-mail stating how upset I was with my services and he agreed to refund me my money for the filing fees and went on to say he had a difficult time serving my landlord and additional money would have been required to get him served. The additional money was never the issue. My issue was with him and his extreme lack of communication with my case. I personally felt that my case wasn't at the top of his priority list as he took it based on contingency. Still, to this day, I have not seen my security deposit from my landlord!

Mr. Chen is an outstanding attorney who will fight hard for your rights in Florida. My family was recently served with an eviction notice. I posted a few questions here on Avvo, and Mr. Chen answered one of them. Most of the other answers I got were the standard "pay up or get out" responses, where our situation was not just that simple. Dennis was very in depth and insightful as to the whole situation. He offered a free 15 minute consultation which turned into almost an hour conversation. After exchanging a few e-mails, he said he would help us in any way he could. After the judge granted us a hearing, Mr. Chen got a retainer agreement for us and was granted a motion to appear on our behalf on less than 24 hours notice. Now, understand that I live in Jacksonville and Mr. Chen is in Orlando, he really went out on a limb to help our situation from long distance without ever meeting in person. He represented us beautifully, and assisted us, especially to protect the interests of our 8 year old son. Dennis is very professional, courteous, knowledgable, and very family oriented. The bottom line is that this man is very sharp and compassionate, and I would highly recommend him to anyone needing representation or just plain good advice in the area of Florida landlord/tenant law. Definitely 5 stars.

I hired him in 4/2012. He told me there's options to stretch out my foreclosure. He filed counsel and email address on the case and that's it. The home ended up being sold on 12/2012. The steps he advised me that he was going to take, never happened. As well, my situation needs research, he's a one man team. There's only so much one person can do. He needs help to research what he can do for his client in their best interest. He knows the law and what to do in standard type cases. He's a good person and kind, but I hired him to help my situation not to be kind to me. He doesn't like to talk, alot of emails.
I ended up hiring someone in Lauderhill, FL last minute and I still have the property. If I didn't switch counsel or I listen to Dennis's advice, I would have lost the property already. I think only flat rate attorney's, never hourly.

I called Dennis for a phone consultation and left a message on his answering machine. He not only called me back immediately - he gave me informed answers and helped me understand the current situation I was in. He gave me a listening ear and truly cared about our situation, and told us all our options as a tenant. (called him for info on tenant dispute)
I would recommend Dennis Chen to anyone seeking an experienced, truthful, and kind lawyer !

I simply called, expecting to have to leave a message. Mr. Chen spoke to me for 15 minutes about my circumstance, never pushy, listening intently. It has been hard to find someone to take an interest...this gentleman did so-thank you!
