Most criminal lawyers do charge on an hourly basis. I currently have a few criminal cases that are over two years old. If I charged an hourly rate on these cases we would be well into the tens of thousands of dollars. Most criminal lawyers have a good understanding of the amount of work a case will take and charge accordingly. Your assurance is the ethical oath we all take and the threat of a complaint to the judge and the Bar. You should hire a lawyer based upon face to face conversations...

Both are right. Do not say another word, type another word about this incident unless it is to your lawyer. Find a lawyer in your area who handles these type of cases immediately.

The West Palm Public Defender's Office is a fine office with a skilled group of lawyers. I am sure they have already been appointed. You should reach out to them before your court date, find out who your lawyer is, and sit down with them. Discuss your options. Do not sit on your hands and wait for court. Call them today. Best of luck.

Unfortunately, there is no easy answer. Your prior record will influence the charge and the outcome. If you are unable to get a DL due to your immigration status, I would suggest consulting with someone to fix your immigration status. Most folks do better in criminal court if they actively try to rectify their own problems. If you are suspended for tickets, get them paid (following your lawyer's lead). If you can become legal in the country, get legal and usually the court will take such...

Why was the DWLS dismissed? Was the address of residence the same as on the driver's license? Was there any recent move on the Defendant's behalf? Was there any other reason to know it was suspended? An unknowing DWLS beforehand, or other tickets? Lots of possibilities. They are not trying to violate because he got the letter. They are trying to violate because it was suspended and he got caught driving. There is a presumption of knowledge if the DHSMV testifies they sent a letter to the...

I would not agree to a broad sweeping position that attorneys from the county in question are not the right attorneys to hire. It is true that a local lawyer usually knows the prosecutor and the judge better than most out of county lawyers, but that does not mean you are getting worse representation. On the contrary, a better relationship with the court and the prosecutor is almost always a benefit. You know the system, you know who you are dealing with, their usual positions, their quirks,...

Yes they can charge it and DO NOT DISCUSS this anymore on these sites. Contact local counsel immediately. All of this was found in your house. Do not talk anymore on these sites. They are not restricted to defense lawyers and these conversations are not privileged.

I am really sorry I can not be of help but there is just about no way anyone here can give you a competent, thoughtful understanding as to how this is going to go based upon your statements above. It is not that you have said anything wrong, but there is just way too much information out there we would need to know in order to adequately respond. The information we would need would far surpass what you may know about the case. Best to talk to your cousin's lawyer if you are authorized to do...
