Can a doctor lie for an employer about employee injury

No. A doctor may not lie in a workers compensation case. There are very different ways of determining disability ratings according to the AMA Guidelines. Different doctors give different ratings often. Company doctors tend to give lower ratings and doctors whom your attorney refers you to may give a higher rating. However, I would suggest you get an independent rating from a new doctor. We can help you with that.

Have been on workers comp. in Ga. for 4yrs.Have had 1 surgery.Work comp.refusing 2 surgeries recommended by Dr. Is lawyer req.?

The insurance company can never force you to settle especially when you still have medical procedures that have not been authorized. They realize that they are going to have to pay for the surgeries and are trying to strong-arm into settling for less than full value. Hopefully, you got in touch with your attorney. He/she should be answering your questions regarding your new issues. I do not see a problem with your family doctor prescribing medication. However, it might be difficult to get reimbursed later because the company doctor did not prescribe the medication. If you need the medication to get through the day, do what you have to do.

You have a right to an independent medical examination with a doctor of your choice if you have been paid workers comp within the last 120 days. If you need help selecting a favorable doctor, please let me know. Also, even if you have not been paid benefits, you can select another doctor from the panel of physicians that the employer should have provided to you. Your weekly compensation rate is determined by the amount you made for the 13 weeks before your accident date. This is called your average weekly wage. Then, under Georgia law, your compensation rate is 2/3 of the average weekly wage subject to a maximum of $500 per week. Compensation is paid generally for 400 weeks from the date of the accident unless you are released to light or full duty or return to work in some other capacity.
