Whats the worst that can happen if i take a DUI to trial and lost?

The maximum punishment is not likely on a first offense, but technically the worst is 12 months incarceration, $1000 fine, and community service in Judge's discretion, on first offense the most likely punishment is 24 hrs in custody, 11months 29 days on probation, $300-1000 fine, DUI school, clinical evaluation for alcohol dependence and treatment as indicated, 40 hrs of community service, one year suspension of drivers license ( there are ways to soften this). It gets much worse on second offenses.
