As long as I have been doing this kid of work I have never, ever seen anyone sued for not paying on one of these demands. I have never heard of any other lawyers' clients getting sued either. If you get sued, it may be the first in Georgia history. I can't tell you what to do here, only that I have never seen anyone sued before on a shoplifting demand letter. You need to hire a lawyer for the criminal case. Shoplifting is a crime of "moral turpitude" meaning it can label you as a dishonest...

Assuming minor altercation means misdemeanor domestic viiolence battery to the court system, you can turn yourself in and have your fiance post bond either case, property, or through a bonding company. It will probably not exceed $2,000 and you can likely get out in a few hours. After that you need to hire a lawyer who can probably get you in some kind of diversion program involving counseling, possible community service, some fee payment to the court, and eventual dismissal. If you are in a...

The police supposedly investigated the case and decided there was no probable cause to arrest her for the burglary. It is extremely likely you can not change that. The State prosecutes criminal cases. Individuals are not permitted to do so. The best you can do is set up an appointment with someone in the D..A's Office and try to persuade them to reconsider. Again, their changing their minds is extremely unlikely.Your logic in wanting to prosecute her makes total sense. However, it is an...

Yes, you can and should help your boyfriend get a pro bono lawyer if you can't otherwise afford to hire one. Regarding your statement that there is no evidence. It is extremely likely that the sheriff told a local judge under oath whatever evidence he has in support of the belief that your boyfriend committed a crime. Apparently the judge also believes your boyfriend committed a crime and therefore signed an arrest warrant, which is keeping him in jail. A lawyer will know what documents to...

Yes they are in trouble. They need to hire a lawyer. Since you are telling us that this person is on probation for multiple crimes, probation can be revoked for up to two years for a new miisdemeanor battery or for the balance of all sentences if this new crime is a felony. You need to either hire a lawyer or apply for a public defender. Criminal defense is complicated and difficult, and no one can advise you on the internet how to represent yourself for a crime you are accused of committing.
