I was just served a show case summons from the commonwealth of Virginia. What is the next step for me?

Asked by a user in Portsmouth, VA - over 2 years ago.

A "Show cause" summons is usually issued by a court to order a person to appear and "show cause" why he should nto be held in contempt for violating the court's order. In other words, it is your opportunity to explain to the court why the court should not punish you for violating a direct order. Where can a person complain to about there lawyer & doctor that represented them

Asked by a user in Toms River, NJ - over 2 years ago.

You should contact the State Bar in the state where the lawyers were licensed and file a grievance if your lawyer violated any of the rules of professional conduct. You lawyer owes certain duties to you-- to be responsive, to be competent and to give you the sole authority to settle your case. If you are merely unhappy with the outcome, that is not a legitimate grievance, but if the lawyer violated the rules, the State Bar will investigate and can discipline the lawyer.

In Minn I was rearended by someone and all they had to pay was the deductable on my ins. I lost my semi tractor and all income.

Asked by a user in Onamia, MN - over 2 years ago.

I am not sure of the laws in Minnesota, but there may be a statute of limitations that bars your taking any legal action for an injury that occurred 6 years ago. You should check with a local lawyer to find out if the statute of limitations has run.
