L. Jayne Stowers

She attended Wake Forest University, and took simultaneous degrees in English and History.  She graduated from law school at UNC-Chapel Hill in 1987 and returned home to Winston-Salem to open her law practice. Jayne Stowers was born in Winston-Salem and has lived here most of her life.

Jayne Stowers has represented clients in the North Carolina Court of Appeals, the North Carolina Supreme Court, the federal district court for the Middle District of North Carolina, and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. She is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court.

Jayne Stowers handles many civil matters, including family law matters, such as separations, divorces, child custody and support, domestic violence, adoptions, termination of parental rights, involuntary commitments, and other matters. She  represents parents, grandparents, and others in Juvenile Court cases involving the Department of Social Services. She defends people accused of misdemeanor cases. She handles a variety of traffic cases, from simple speeding to driving without a license.

Jayne Stowers loves working with people.  She  finds her skills as a negotiator and her problem-solving approach to helping her clients solve their problems assists individuals and families put the pieces of their lives back together after a crisis.
