Mr. McGraw is a nice guy, but that's about it. He is very expensive and seems to spread himself too thin. He does great work in certain areas of law, but not Probate! Even in his more experienced areas, don't expect to be made a priority! He is very good at writing wills, but hopefully you get your final wishes documented before you die. After calling, and practically camping in and outside of his office with urgent matters and deadlines that I had paid dearly in retainer, he managed to try to twist his lack of work on my case as my fault! He has more excuses than Carter has liver pills, as the old saying goes. Despite multiple warnings from others, and giving the guy one last chance, he has caused me to have multiple fines from the county in reference to a case I did most of the leg work on, and would have been better off doing it myself!. Even his employees had a very poor opinion of his "idea" what reasonable timing is. I would not recommend Mr. McGraw as an attorney. Poor communication, many let-downs, and throwing money out the window. Hope this helps someone save a lot of time, stress, and money!

I am currently being represented in a complicated case for child support by patrick and he recently represented me in a child custody case. All i have to say about him is what he says he delivers! He is very friendly and understanding of situations! I would recommend him anyday!

Mr. McGraw has worked with me with one successful case already and is in the process to hear my next case. He is knowledgeable and compassionate when it comes to family situations and wanting what is best for the child. He has made me feel the least amount of stress in such a hectic time with a child support and custody battle. Knowing he is taking care and on my side has been a weight off my shoulders. I definitely highly recommend this lawyer for anyone in the Roanoke area.

I hired Mr. McGraw for what started out as a divorce with custody, and the typical support and family and property issues. From there the case evolved into multiple different protective orders, domestic abuse allegations (that were false), and seemingly endless other issues. Mr. McGraw was always there at the other end of the phone, was always willing to set up face to face meetings with me whenever we needed, and he always explained things fully and fairly to me, which often times meant saying things that I did not want to hear, but they needed to be said. When we went to court he was extremely prepared, organized, and was extremely aggressive. The other lawyer would always try to interrupt, talk over him and contradict him, and he always very calmly but very firmly and persistently would present our side to go opposite of what the other attorney was trying to say, and the outcome of every single part of each one of these cases was even better than I expected.

Very dissatisfied due to not following through with submitting paperwork and has caused my divorce to still not be completed. Does not return phone calls and requests for contact. I expedited my paperwork and found out the first filing sat on Mr. Mcgraw's desk for 6 weeks after being told repeatedly the paperwork was submitted weeks prior. Now I am still waiting for him to send completed paperwork.

I also had Mr McGraw for child custody yes he does put on a wonderful sale pitch that you buy into, however when he offers 5000.00 flat fee no matter how many times he has to represent you in court how many 3rd party calls he has to make, so when time to file a show cause he charged an additional 1500.00 only to withdraw in the courts, he was a no show on one of our appointments we drove in for, he doesn't return phone calls or emails I requested numerous times copy of agreement when I retained him, Also late filing after 180 day review and then filed with the Incorrect childs last name and then lied and stated the one with the incorrect last name never made it to the courts only to receive in the mail the order with the incorrect childs last name and where the judge signed off on the order and stamped by the courts. Not to mention not very organized and cannot keep track of instances and situations you spoke with him in deepest regards related to the child, then gets irate and irritated when you call him inquiring on information, was never notified when filing a show cause the opposing party also had and was never notified until I showed up in the courtroom, Everything he tells you he thinks he can get out of them on the stand nothing is ever put fort and then when you question him why he didn't bring them to the stand he states "he didn't have any new information" Now I had sent my last email in November never have received a call or email in Return Kinda makes you think of Steve Miller Band"Take the Money and Run" Not to mention he had taken pictures also with his phone I reckon to impress us, however none of that was put before the courts. Let me elaborate on his motto "We help real Families created more Real Problems

I hired this lawyer for his experitise with DSS and fighting them and for custody. He is very knowledgeable and has been responsive to my inquiries. He is a good listener and he has a legal acumen with strategy. He makes strategy decisions on his own without asking for his clients approval. As hard as it is to take, so far, he has made the right decisions. He is handling a very complicated and extreme custoday case for us and we have been very satifisifed with his legal knowledge and astute ability to perform in court.

Good lawyers do cost good money!! I paid quite a bit but feel that it was well worth the amount that I paid. He has always followed up with me and even used his personal cell when out of the office.I got better results than what was expected. One thing you must remember. Sometimes it is not the lawyer but it is the client!! If they are not doing their part than they can only be represented as well is able. My ex paid a large amount for his attorney but when you are acting out of what is good for self and not the child the judge can see this. Pat cannot mold his clients into what the judge would want. Bad reviews for this man mean bad clients that are doing things that cannot be represented!!!

When you meet Mr McGraw, you are so impressed because he say's exactly what you want to hear and you feel so positive and then he tells you that he requires a $3,000.00 retainer fee and states that whatever he does not use will be returned to you. After he has your money, he seems to disappear he does not respond to your phone calls or emails and becomes angry when you question his tactics. After receiving a legal motion on my front door from an opposing attorney and trying desperately to get DNA results, I left numerous phone messages and emails for Mr McGraw with no response, I felt helpless, I had questions and I needed the representation I was paying for! I had no choice but to fire him and request a refund. He denied my request and is now trying to get more money from me by creating a lot of bogus charges. I hired another attorney and so far, I am pleased with the job she is doing.
