I'm a partner at Shapiro, Appleton & Duffan in Virginia Beach, VA specializing in personal injury law. I grew up in Virginia Beach and went to both college and law school in Virginia, earning my undergraduate degree from James Madison University and my law degree from William & Mary.
The entire focus of my legal career has been litigation and trial law, first as a prosecutor for almost five years, and then as an in-house litigation manager for a NASDAQ listed company in Norfolk for a little more than a year. My focus continues to be on trial law with the firm.
I'm currently licensed to practice in all Virginia courts including all Federal District Courts in Virginia, and in all North Carolina state courts. I am a member of the Virginia Bar Association, Virginia Beach Bar Association, the Norfolk-Portsmouth Bar Association, the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice and the I'Anson-Hoffman American Inn of Courts. I hold board positions on the Virginia Beach Bar and Virginia Trial Lawyers Associations.

I endorse Kevin, my colleague based on not only my opinion. Before asking Kevin to join our injury law firm, I consulted with two circuit Court Judges who had high endorsements of Kevin Duffan. They based their opinions on evaluating him at numerous hearings and trials. Since he served as a prosecutor, it was important to seek evaluations from othe defense attorneys also. Likewise, these attorneys said he was a balanced, fair prosecutor whose word was his bond. These are reasons I give him my endorsement having also worked with Kevin as well.
