Andrea Lee Negroni

Andrea Lee Negroni is an attorney in the field of financial services regulation with concentration in mortgage and consumer finance. She was previously an officer at a national residential mortgage company and later, an executive officer at a national real estate asset management and disposition firm. She speaks at financial and mortgage conferences and professional associations. Ms. Negroni has also presented at conferences sponsored by Thomson Reuters and the Texas Bar Association. Ms. Negroni has conducted due diligence reviews of several independent mortgage companies prior to their acquisitions or IPOs. She has conducted 50-state surveys of virtually every substantive area of regulatory compliance of interest to residential mortgage lenders. Ms. Negroni has advised clients on privacy, social media regulation, and applicability of money transmitter laws to business models involving in-game exchange of digital objects. Under a USAID contract, Ms. Negroni advised the Government of Slovakia on the implementation of a private mortgage banking system. In 2007, she completed a tour of several business process outsource (BPO) and legal process outsource (LPO) companies in India and later addressed several industry groups considering outsourcing of core business functions. She is adjunct associate professor of law at American University’s Washington College of Law and a Fellow of the American College of Consumer Financial Services Lawyers. Ms. Negroni served as a member of the Advisory Council of the American Association of Residential Mortgage Regulators (AARMR) and on the Board of Governors of the Mortgage Bankers Association of Metropolitan Washington. She is the author of Residential Mortgage Lending: State Regulation Manual andIntroduction to Mortgage Lending, Second and Third Editions, published by the American Bankers Association (ABA). She has written dozens of articles on consumer credit regulation and related subjects, published in a variety of professional publications. Retired from BuckleySandler, LLP in May 2015, Ms. Negroni was previously a partner with Goodwin Procter. From 1992-2000, she was the founder and managing partner of Negroni & Kromer, PLLC, a Washington, D.C.-based law firm representing financial institutions, including mortgage and real estate companies, Internet-based loan originators, consumer credit lenders, commercial banks and thrifts, and their holding companies. Ms. Negroni was the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award in 1997 from the American Association of Residential Mortgage Regulators, and the Vincent Reed Award in 2012 from the Washington Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs. She received her J.D. from Columbia University School of Law and her B.A. from Emory University.
