There is no typical sentence for most charges in the District of Columbia. All the misdemeanor judges determine sentences upon considering varying pre-sentencing factors. Your Counsel can work out a plea agreement with the prosecution where they won't seek any time for a first-timer, but it is not binding on the Judge. Please consult with a local Traffic attorney who can advise you on the merits of the two cases (tickets) against you. An attorney with a good grasp of local procedures, as well as knowledge of local judges, will be able to prepare defenses that will result in a minimal impact on your record.

Mr. Machado has furnished an excellent response. I will merely add that local Judges at the Superior Court of the District of Columbia look favorably upon the concept of early "acceptance of responsibility." While a Judge would not distinguish between a sentence after a plea, versus a sentence after a Trial or Adjudication, the defense attorney can ask the Judge for additional leniency for an early acceptance of responsibility following a plea to some of the charges.

With crimes this serious, "he" really should be looking for an experienced, competent attorney in WV. Simply put, he islooking at serious time, but only a local attorney would be able to give him a proper estimate. I would also suggest that you not interfere too much in his interactions with his counsel, so that he can talk to counsel freely.

It really depends upon how comfortable your son feels with the public defender. Many public defenders are dedicated attorneys who will represent clients competently and diligently. However, should your son have reservationsd with his public defender, then you may want to retain a competent local attorney with a good understanding of the local criminal justice system.

In addition to the responses stated by the previous attorney, I will add the following: You may wish to consult with the attorney who assisted you in the case. In the event of a Violation, chances are that the attorney would be called to assist you.The attorney may be able to furnish you with suggestions on how to handle the matter prior to a Violation being reported to teh Judge. This attorney is familiar with the facts of your case and would be in the best position to assist you.

The simple response is that a warrant will be issued for your arrest, if you don't show up for your probation Show Cause hearing. You may wish to get in touch with the attorney who initially handled your case. Normally, that attorney will also get a Notice of Show Cause, along with you. For PWID Marijuana, the U. S.
