Mr. Collins was hired to defend me in a minor criminal case. It was not a difficult case to work, a simple assault case after a MV incident. I contacted him since he worked for Wally Worth, whom had an excellent reputation.
The judges that was to hear the case for the first step was a judge that I was very familiar with, we had belonged to some of the same social clubs. the Judge that supposed to hear the case originally was out on sick leave, and I asked Mr. Collins a few times to request a continuance. His reply? "It won't make a bit of difference".
Instead, the case was heard by a much less liberal judge, and the outcome was quite worse. I now have a criminal record.
I am VERY VERY sure that if the case was heard by the judge that I was familiar with, the outcome would have been more favorable, instead, because Mr. Collins would not listen, and even give it a try, we will never know.
If you want an arrogant attorney with no people skills....he is your man!
He was the first attorney I hired for my husbands criminal case. He was degrading and almost threatening at times. He had me talk to the state police ( who he was more friendly with than me) even though any other attorney would have advised against it. He basically tried to help the police instead of me and my husband. He even threw a tissue box across his desk at me when he got mad. He took complete advantage of me because of the vulnerable state I was in.
I unfortunately found BC to be arrogant and dismissive in his mannerism and did not seem to listen to my thoughts or directly answer questions regarding my own defense. I was never comfortable w/ him nor felt the bond of trust that I think should exsisit between client and attorney. But I had no choice but to trust him after he was retained and paid thousands of dollars. The most profound disappointment was his blatant disregard of a specific request from me to ascertain info that was a matter of public record and crucial to my immed. release. An outside source was able to ascertain the answer for me in 30 minutes and I was released w/i 15 hours of getting the answer . The answer was indeed a matter of public record. I was incarcerated for over 7 weeks prior to getting the much needed legal info that I requested WEEKS prior. Brian expressed to me that he "assumed" that the answer would not be favorable to me therefore did not inquire as I requested. Brian was seemed very surprised to find out about my release. Brian has touted his experience to me as 1 of the most successful attorneys in Leigh Valley. That has not been my experience. I am retaining new council ASAP for my up coming battle.
