It most likely will affect his ability adjust status although you need to get a consultation with a good immigration attorney to review the conviction to make sure if and how it will affect him. Is the EOIR 800 number a reliant source to asses if you have ever been on removal proceedings?

Asked by a user in Raleigh, NC - 7 months ago.

Every system has its flaws but the EOIR 800 number has been pretty reliable for me. The few exceptions have been when the case is so fresh that it may not have been put into the system; as in a the case of someone just detained. But for most of my cases like the one you described for yourself, I've found the phone system very reliable and I actually depend on it to advise my clients.
