  • Can an Incorporated business ask me to make the check out directly to the owner? Is this legal?

A state incorporated business is asking me to pay them by writing a check out directly to the owner. Is this legal?

    Harry’s Answer

It's not illegal. Just make sure you get a receipt from the entity whose invoice you are paying. If you make the check out to an individual, that person can cash the check, as opposed to the check being required to be deposited into that corporation's account. So, protect yourself, in case the corporation comes after you for nonpayment.

  • I was served with divorce papers by my husbsnd. I am not willing to sign those papers is there a time frame.

We are married and live in the same household

    Harry’s Answer

It depends on which papers you were served. Your spouse could be asking you to cooperate with the so-called UnContested Divorce, in which case he probably sent you an affidavit he asked you to "sign." If you're unable to respond to this Avvo post, feel free to call our office for a brief discussion.
