The facts as you presented them do not seem to be malpractice on the attorney's part. You should meet with the lawyer and inquire into the investigation he performed to find the carrier. If the carrier disclaims coverage due to the laundry mat's owner's failure to notify them of a lawsuit that does not mean you will not be able to recover any money. If the Laundry Mat is liable you can get a judgment against them directly. Unfortunately collecting on a judgment is easier said than done....
