Matthew B. Kogan

Matthew B. Kogan earned his juris doctor from Hofstra University School of Law in 2001, where he was elected Managing Editor of Family Court Review: An Interdisciplinary Journal.  He was also published in that journal.  In addition, Mr. Kogan began to develop his litigation skills through participation in multiple moot court competitions and trial techniques classes.

Continuing to hone his skills, almost immediately after law school, Mr. Kogan began litigating “in the trenches” of the New York State Courts, gaining valuable experience working for a plaintiff's personal injury litigation firm based in Manhattan, but litigating matters in all five boroughs, Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Orange, Rockland, and counties further upstate. 

Mr. Kogan's focus has subsequently shifted to commercial litigation, where he represents clients involved in disputes related to commercial litigation, construction law, products liability, premises liability, other business-related issues, and general negligence. 

During his career, Mr. Kogan has tried numerous cases to verdict, taken and defended thousands of depositions, arbitrated and mediated many cases, prevailed on various types of motion practice and, in the process, satisfied hundreds of commercial and individual clients.  Further, Mr. Kogan's experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal courts affords him a unique perspective both prosecuting and protecting clients in many types of cases.

In addition to his litigation experience, Mr. Kogan has lectured to insurance companies and their clients, conducted continuing legal education seminars for colleagues, organized a multinational product recall, and is actively involved with many organizations within the industry and various local communities that provide valuable resources to the practice and its clientele.

Currently, Mr. Kogan is actively involved in the Nassau County Bar Association, the Plainview-Old Bethpage Chamber of Commerce, and various other local organizations in New York City and Long Island.  He lives in Nassau County with his wife and two young daughters.
