My 17 year old son was arrested for Petit Larceny, no parent was ever contacted.

Your child is considered a youth in the eyes of the law, not a juvenile. Therefore there is no requirement that the parents be notified. Also, an accused must be read his Miranda rights only if the police intend on interrogating him/her.

Unfortunately, not all Assistant District Attorneys are the same, as in any industry. Some are better than others. Some let cases fall through the cracks. You do not have the option of choosing which prosecutor will be assigned to your case. As a former ADA, I suggest you stay on top of your case without becoming a burden.
