    If the police conducted an unlawful search, your remedy would be to file a motion to suppress and ask the court for a hearing to suppress evidence recovered. Since you have not mentioned any evidence that was recovered, they is not likely any remedy.

    If you are convicted by plea or by trial you will be sentenced to 48 hours jail. On a plea most judges will allow you to serve the jail time in the IDRC.

    It would depend on the level of crime to determine the statute of limitations and what if any additional evidence the police may have to bring charges. It doe not sound like a very good idea.

    I do think that you should at a minimum consult with a local attorney and go over in detail the charges and the facts of the case. In the end you should hire an attorney.

    You are not likely to get any jail time for the crime. You should try to get the misdemeanor reduced so that you don't wind up with a criminal record. Review the case with an experienced criminal defense attorney ASAP.

    You may choose not to cooperate and the police can charge you with the original charges.

    This is a defiant trespass which is a petty disorderly offense. You have the right to represent yourself and yes you may speak with a the prosecutor. Your best course of action is to hire an attorney, get the discovery and go to court with an advocate.
