  • I was arrested in late January, 2015 for allegedly violating an Order of Protection in NY. After my arraignment, the people have

had the case adjourned four times, claiming they're not ready. They have a lying complainant and I've spoken to four attorneys with 100+ years' of experience combined. Not one, has ever heard of such a charge. How many times can the D.A.'s office...

    Arkady’s Answer

If you violate an order of protection than you can be arrested, as you found out. I am not sure if you are saying that you weren't charged correctly. You need to sit down with your attorney and get an explanation that you understand. Adjournments are not unusual, but ask your attorney about that.

There could definitely be legal repercussions to this action. The age of consent in NY is 17 and the girl was too young.

  • Proving a statement to police was made involuntary

I was arrested held in holding cell and was emotionally and physically a mess. I asked for a lawyer before questioning. Cop said this isn't the time for that. I suffer from anxiety but have never been diagnosed formally. I use to go to therapist w...

    Arkady’s Answer

The best way for that to happen is discuss fully what happened with your attorney as soon as possible. It may or may not be on the record that you asked for an attorney. Anything said after that should not count. If you don't have an attorney get one right away and do not speak with the police until then.

    Arkady’s Answer

Your question ended up in the Criminal Law section. While forgery is indeed a crime your question might best be answered in the real estate section. The document would not be binding with a forged signature on it likely. However one needs to see the full document to tell you what the real estate repercussions are.
