Tax lien property

Please note that I am not licensed to practice law in your state. In my state, cities and towns may sell a tax sale certificate to purchasers at auction. The certificate's value is equal to the amount of property tax the landowner failed to pay. The property owner still owns the property and may redeem the certificate (i.e. pay it off with interest) at any time prior to being foreclosed.
