My condolences for your loss. To begin with it seems unusual that your Mom would be sent to the hospice section of the hospital to recover from a swallowing problem. Often people in hospice are given morphine if ordered by the attending physician to ease the pain. Hospice is not a place that a patient intended to recover is typically sent . They don't teach personal responsibility when obtaining one's driving privileges in Connecticut but they should.
