About me

I have been practicing for 29 years and have been recognized for being a zealous advocate for my clients. I pride myself on maintaining a high level of ethical standards, and an excellent level of service to my clients. While I respect those who do court appointed work, my practice is limited to those who are capable of retaining an attorney.

In 29 years as an attorney, my primary focus has been on criminal law at the state and federal level.  I also handle personal injury cases, where my trial skills have greatly enhanced my ability to achieve exceptional results for my clients.  I am a past President of the Massachusetts Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, which is the pre-eminent bar association in the state for criminal defense practitioners.

I am extremely engaged in cutting edge issues in the legal profession. I am proud that my opinions and insights into the law are often sought out. For the past 20 years I have been a legal analyst for New England Cable News (NECN).  Recently I was named as the station's legal editor. In 2011, I was appointed by the Justices of the Supreme Judicial Court to serve on the prestigous Task Force on Judicial Hiring.  The Task Force was created in response to a scandel surrounding the Probation Department hiring and promotion practices.  It is comprised of nationally recognized leaders in the legal and business community.   In 2005, I was appointed by the Supreme Judicial Court to its Standing Advisory Committee on the Rules of Criminal Procedure.  Additionally, I am currently on the Board of Editors of Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly, and have also served on the Cirriculum Advisory Committee for Criminal Law for Mass. Continuing Legal Education.

I have previously served as an Assistant District Attorney, practicing at both the district and superior court levels.  I was the chief of the Motor Vehicle Homicide Unit, and oversaw all prosecutions involving fatalities in motor vehicles.
