Both attny's gave you excellent advice and I would only add look at the bill, did he or she no charge you for small matters here or there, call your attny and say to them this is my life i don't want to worry about the small stuff are you protecting me on the big stuff. Most lawyers will give you a discount on short calls and emails if they don't they should, and if they don't then you either have enough money not to worry about it or you should ask for a discount.

Yes, on some occasions they do negotiate their hourly and their retainer for good clients, but not all attorneys and not all the time. Many attorney's provide professional courtesy discounts on their billings for brief emials and telephone calls. For instance we don't charge for travel time to court, things like that add value to your case. Keep in mind, you get what you pay for in most cases and with lawyers the better you treat your attorney the better service you will get and more than...

Don't ever feel paranoid, but do be cautious of everyone giving you Monday morning quarterback advice, although they may be friends, it is diffiuclt unless they have legal training and are familiar with your separation agreement. If you feel that your husband is filing once set of returns and giving you another you can ask him to sign a release and that you can order at your own expense certified copies of the tax returns through the IRS, I believe their are two types, the full version and the...

Lawyers like anyone else are in the service business, you wouldn't put up with that at your local market, or mcdonalds or starbucks or for that matter your doctor, so why put up with it for your lawyer. Most lawyers are so arrogant they think they are doing you a favor helping you at all. The party is over in the legal profession, look at this social media site, you are getting answers within minutes or hours. Hold your lawyer to the same standard that you would hold any professional, trust...

That is a fine idea, many of my clients proposes budgets and I propose them for them as well, it is not always the lawyers who go over budget, the client may (rightfully so) allow their emotions to dictate their financial decisions and insist on protracted discovery such as depostions or document requests to frustrate the opposing spouse out of spite or anger. All of these emotions are natural during this delicate process, however a a good attny will make sure to advise the client to think...

As far as I know most business's in the US are not required to ever accept credit cards, we are a free country in most cases which is what makes us so great. That being said, most professional offices do accept credit cards, in our office we accept all major credit cards and debit cards and have done so for many years. some offices do not accept AMEX as it is expensive to process, however we do. Many lawyers will agree to be paid partially from the sale of marital assets if you have run out...

You may spend what is necessary and reasonable, don't go overboard or the court may and still might order that amount attributed to your side of the marital estate. The rule is that you may use joint assets for ordinary and necessary expenses which include legal fees. As far as personal expense, food, shelter, reasonable clothing. I wouldn't buy a fur coat or a diamond bracelet unless you are very wealthy and that is ordinary to you. Take care and I hope it works out, moreso I hope that you...

As long as the deal is good for you and it meets your needs and is as good as you can get and is fair, yes, it is very good to have a deal, however the deal shoudl be signed as a stipualtion and offered to the court to be made an order, that protect you in case he doesn't comply. Hope that helps.

You should retain counsel that you feel best understands you, your case, your costs and your needs. They should be familiar with the court and give you a feeling that they can solve your problem as if it were there own.
