I hired Luke Durham to represent me in two nearly identical tenant/landlord cases where I was the landlord and both tenants abandoned the property with a proper lease and no damage to the property. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN SIMPLE. He billed over $15,000 before quitting. Durham burned through my cash qui...ckly and would not discount for mistakes as simple as his own scheduling errors for which he billed secretarial work at $250/hour. Another example: One email alone was $15 per word times 5 words answering the question whether the second family was also served. Durham's excuse was that I "got small towned". I notified all the partners at Durham's Firm of his failure and unethical behavior including how Durham impugned the judge's reputation. I've represented myself "pro se" and won my appeal (case V18299S) and went on to win the case in circuit court without an attorney. Durham failed and then quit. My complaint to the Tennessee Board Of Professional Responsibility (TPOPR) was nearly 200 pages long.
