Helped me on my DUi

John walked me through all the steps on my DUI case. He took care of everything and eased my anxiety over the situation. Him and his team helped me through any questions and worked diligently on my case to get me reduced to a wet and reckless. I was so frightened through the biggest mistake of my lif...e and I am so thankful I had a great team to help me and assist me through that. Talk about a worst to best case scenario…

Got a speeding ticket between Mammoth & Los Angeles end of May. At that time, learned that my driver’s license had expired ~6 mos prior. Continued to check online to pay the ticket weekly & even called Ridgecrest (Kern) Superior Court on multiple occasions, only to hear that the ticket wasn’t in the ...system yet. Fast forward to this month (October), still no record, but finally speak to someone who thought to check the misdemeanor records vs the traffic violations & boom, there it was. And now, because I didn’t appear in court, there was a warrant out for me. I reached out to a few lawyers in the area & found John. I immediately felt comfortable with him & knew he was the guy to fight on my behalf. He was the only lawyer to speak my language and he shared his game plan on our first call. Hiring him & Stephanie (his paralegal) was the best decision I could have made. In one week, my case was heard & because of John’s knowledge (of mistakes made) & his diplomacy/relationships, my ticket and warrant were both completely wiped with zero fine, zero points & zero notice to my insurance company. If you find yourself in a similar bind, I completely recommend the Underwood team!

Forever grateful.

My experience with Mr. Underwood and his team was incredible. I was in deep water looking at a strike, 3 violent felonies, and 3 misdemeanors of which 2 were considered violent. The nature of my case is rather simple, a verbal altercation occurred between myself and a man under the influence and next... thing I know I get sucker punched. Well, it didn't end well for the assailant and that in turn made me the criminal. After being arrested and seeing my charges I lawyered up immediately. I am not a Bakersfield native, I live in a very small town so I had to find someone that would help me. Enter John Underwood. The very first time I called him I was able to speak with him directly, for about 35 minutes. Understand I was very unnerved, but after that phone call I felt like I could breath again. Mr. Underwood spoke to me calmly and with confidence, assuring me that there was a way out of this mess. We didn't even speak about money until the very end of our call. When we did, he was understanding of my circumstance, and more than fair with pricing. I was allowed to pay in chunks and was given ample time to do so. To wrap things up, months go by as John would make trips to my hometown for my court dates, eventually getting my case pushed down to Bakersfield. The day I appeared for my final court date I was terrified, again. I was called and we were in court for all of 5 minutes and guess what? I walked out with a single misdemeanor, 1 year informal probation, a couple hours of community service. Period. I was supposed to go to prison for at least a year. Nope. Mr. Underwood turned my case into a pillow case. For that I am forever grateful. John treated me like a person when everyone else labeled me a monster. Thank you Underwood Law, love you guys.

Wonderful Attorney

Such a great experience with Mr.Underwood. He’s always so helpful, very honest and so knowledgeable. He returns calls very quickly and always available. His staff is also the same, as well as polite accommodating. Mr. Underwood made a really tough time for me much easier and went above and beyond.
