I hired Michael Baumer to handle my bankruptcy. He did an adequate job. I did not have his entire fee so I offered to let him hold my fathers Rolex as security. He agreed and I began making payments. I represented this person in a Chapter 7 case filed on January 29, 2008. As payment for my fees, he gave me a Rolex watch. The Attorney Disclosure and Statement of Financial Affairs, filed under penalty of perjury, in federal court reflect this agreement. Soon after, this person asked if he could buy back his watch. I told him that if he paid my fee in full within 6 months, I would give him back his watch. It is now 3 years later and he wants to redeem the watch. He did not leave his watch as security for payment; it was the payment for my attorney fees.
