When I received my ticket I was distraught and didn't really want to think about it due to the amount of mail that comes in when your name hits the public record. But one night I received a book that changed my view on the situation. It was a book written by Mr. Nichols about reckless driving in VA.... Even though I had a previous felony after reading the book I some optimism regarding my situation. A day later I contacted Mr. Nichols and retained his services. I entered the court room expecting jail time as a worst case scenario but only left with a large speeding ticket. You must understand that the difference between a good attorney and a great one is how they can educate you as to your situation but make deals with the district attorneys. Luke Nichols represented me in court this morning regarding a reckless driving citation (92 in a 70 mph zone). I was full sure I would be convicted and receive a driving license suspension and potential jail time as I had a similar charge out of state in 2013. One thing to keep in mind for anyone who's in a similar situation (This is something I didn't know): All of the negotiation with the prosecutor is done on the day of your court date because the name of the prosecutor is not known until the day before. Even though you may feel anxious and nervous, there is nothing that can be done until the day of. Just do what your attorney asks you to do, so he can go and negotiate on your behalf as best as he can. Mr. Nichols knew the people at the court and is certainly knowledgeable about traffic cases.
