Theres a reason why he's on billboards

Tom Maronick completely took charge of my case and got me the least possible verdict. I honestly did not have to do anything besides taking my classes and showing up. I am extremely thankful. Thank you

Reconsider Hiring Thomas Maronick

I hired Thomas Maronick to defend me against a DUI citation that I received back in July 2018. Throughout my time working with Tom he appeared to be preoccupied with other cases and was often very short with me when I asked him questions. He was unprepared for my first trial and did not attend the ne...xt two trials. Instead, he sent a junior attorney to represent me. After receiving my judgment, Tom did not follow up with me to see if I was pleased with the outcome or my legal representation. If I should ever need a criminal lawyer in the future I will NOT hire Thomas Maronick.

Hi Mary - thanks for giving us your feedback. Unfortunately we do not see a last name in your review so can not determine if you are in fact a client. That being said, if you are the person whose case closely mirrors the time frame you describe, we see that this particular case ended with a very favorable outcome that was a probation before judgment on the incarcerable charge; this is not a conviction on your record and cannot be appealed because it is not a conviction. As a results-oriented firm, we stand firmly by the favorable outcome in this case and thus are extremely surprised to see a one-star review in a case with that kind of an outcome. As such, we would like the chance to discuss your concerns if this is your case. Alternatively, if this is not your case, unfortunately we cannot determine if you are in fact a client and cannot address any specific concerns unless we are able to determine that issue. Our office is available at (410) 244-5068 if you would like to speak with us.

UNPROFESSIONAL, LAZY, MISLEADING

I had over 5 attorneys reassigned to my case in 8 months. This law firm was the most stressful part of my experience. There was no doubt that I was innocent, All I needed was an attorney to execute properly. The level of anxiety to get a new lawyer a few days before court, that knows nothing about yo...ur case. I stayed patient by speaking with Mr. MARONICK JR and expressing my concerns. I truly felt He didn’t care, the only time he did was when I would ask for my money back. Due to having my lawyers being switched like hot potatoes, they were never prepared going into court. After so many postponements due to them being unprepared, the judge expressed there wouldn’t be any more granted. A week before the big day, I contacted my lawyer and he didn’t even remember me. He told me that he was no longer on my case and that MR SEAMON would be picking it up and would be giving me a call. I contacted Mr. MARONICK AGAIN, expressing my concerns about my lawyer being reassigned for the 5th time and that there was no way he would be ready for court. It was a day before court and Mr.SEAMON didn’t reach out until 9pm, THE NIGHT BEFORE COURT. Mr. SEAMON spoke to me as if I was bothering him, he said “what’s the big deal, I’m looking at your case. What are you worried about?” He asked me if I was willing to take a plea, I said no. I expressed to him that I didn’t feel he was prepared to take on this case in such short notice, THERE WAS 11HRS UNTIL COURT. Our plan was to push for postponement. When we got to court that morning. The first thing MR SEAMON did was go to the SA and negotiated a plea. He came to me with the plea and I said no. He became upset and frustrated that I wouldn’t take the plea. He said he knew that SA and worked hard to get it. He felt I was making him look stupid. In my head, I’m thinking “do you work for me or the SA?” I reiterated that I wasn’t taking a plea. He looks me in the face and says “if you don’t take this plea, I wont be representing you anymore.” To me, that meant nothing because he hasn’t even been assigned to my case for a full 24hours but I expressed that I felt pressured and very uncomfortable. MR SEAMON became more frustrated and said “if you’re not comfortable, I’m going to strike my appearance.” At this point, he was threatening me into accepting this plea. I told him that I would call Mr. Maronick, that when he calmed down. He told me our only option was to take it to Circuit court and that he wouldn’t charge me the circuit court fee due to the incompetence of the firm. District court fee=$2500, Circuit court= $10k-$20k We went back into the courtroom and the first thing MR SEAMON said was “well my client doesn’t think I’m capable of trying this case so I’m going to ask for a postponement”, he said this in front of the entire court. The judge denied it, so he told the judge to escalate it to circuit court. After court Mr SEAMON called me upset that I didn’t take the plea. He explained that he had other things to deal with and my case was just another burden. We had the trial date a week later. I showed up to court on time expecting to see MR SEAMON, He was no where to be found. I called him and he told me he sent me an email. He got the court date postponed and didn’t notify me. He also followed through on his threat and struck his appearance and returned my money. KEEP IN MIND, my case was escalated to circuit court so I had a few weeks to find a lawyer to try my case for more than triple of what I was originally supposed to pay. They screwed me over. I found a great lawyer who did such a great job defending me that my case was dismissed BEFORE the trial date. Had I gave into MR SEAMONS threats, I would have taken the blame for something uI didn’t do. My job is to make sure no one gets treated like that again. DO NOT GO TO THIS FIRM.

There is a reason Avvo has become virtually obselete as far as a marketing source for lawyers or to have any sense of reliability for clients as far as an experience with a law firm. Part of it is allowing reviews like this to see the light of day. It's really a sad commentary on Avvo more than anything else. This review is from an anonymouse person, trashes a lawyer with the law firm, who isn't even the lawyer for whom the review was posted. We don't comment on anonymous reviews and have no idea who this is. This garbage review doesn't reflect the experience the vast majority of our clients have time and again, experience after experience. Kirk Seaman -- the lawyer actually referenced in this review posted to Thomas Maronick Jr's Avvo profile -- has 30+ years experience and doesn't run from trials. If he left a case it is because he felt there was a conflict with a client, and in this case the anonymous reviewer mentions getting the full fee back. Rather than respond to this ridiculous anonymous review posted to the wrong lawyer's Avvo page even if this was a real person, we choose to simply question how Avvo can claim to be a reputable source for client reviews, but allow this type of conduct. We stopped advertising with Avvo for reasons just like this. Avvo has truly become a thing of the past and completely obselete in 2022.

WORST LAWYER EVER

Very unprofessional!! I hired Tom several months back. He kept giving me the run around. Communication was very limited. Joe schano and Stephanie All gave me the run around. Asked for itemized receipt numerous amount of times. Charged $500 for a jail visit that I told him not to go to. Fired him seve...ral times. Yet I was still charged. $10,000 for a district case. Everything he claimed he filed was gonna be filed automatically. I hired a new lawyer for under half the price and got instant results. I will never refer him to anyone. All he did was take my money. He claimed I was getting some of that back which I did not. Shame on you Tom, Stephanie, and Joe. He only have a 1 star rating because I had to pick one in order to submit this review. Other wise I would had given it a negative five

This is an unfortunate, anonymous review. This resembles an actual case we did have in which our client was charged with incredibly serious crimes and we litigated a bail review, a preliminary hearing for him, made multiple jail visits as part of our representation with our client, filed multiple bond reviews and other motions on his behalf and represented him in both District and Circuit Court. If this is the client this most resembles, the family demanded information we couldn’t provide without client consent, wanted motions filed before they could be, and sought almost-daily communication with us, though unfortunately we could not immediately respond to every single communication, we did respond, especially Mr. Maronick, regularly. Joe Schanno was slow to do one jail visit due to his trial schedule in one instance and we cancelled that jail visit by Joe and did not bill the client for that particular visit. We apologized that he was slow to do that visit. They were provided the invoice sought and all time billed was accounted for and if there had been part of the fee to return they would have received such. Any client is free to hire any lawyer of their choosing. One of the reasons we win awards is we have a long track record of winning incredibly serious cases. But we don’t BS clients and tell them what they want to hear. If someone writes a one-star review it’s usually because they were unreasonable or had wildly unrealistic expectations. Unfortunately the expectations in this case did not align with the facts. It happens and it is why some lawyers, especially some District Court criminal and DUI lawyers somehow have zero one-star reviews. We have some because we take on incredibly difficult Circuit cases as a part of our practice area that other lawyers are scared to even touch.

Tough Case Great Lawyer

I was in a desperate situation and on paper my case looked terrible. I stood to loose my job and much more. Tom Maronick and his team worked incredible hard to get an outcome that both saved my job as well as received a sentencing that allowed me to continue working. Tom was courteous and would reg...ularly call to explain matters with regards to the case. I would recommend Maronick Law to anyone who was in a similar situation.
