As much as I would prefer to no longer reflect on a dark chapter in my family's life that is now thankfully behind us, the dark chapter itself would not have ended in the successful manner that it did without Joseph Lento's tireless efforts on behalf of my son and family. Because of one individuals's inexcusable maliciousness, and as I was to soon learn, because of how allegations of sexual assault are viewed today on college campuses. My son had worked tremendously hard to earn acceptance into a top-ranked school, and he was continuing on the path he had set out for himself years earlier. With graduation in sight, and expected attendance at a top-ranked graduate program as his next step in life, my son had the terrible misfortune to be accused of a sexual offense by a former girlfriend, another student who had attended the same school. As one can imagine, with such an allegation came a tremendous burden which words cannot describe. Having only dealt with attorneys in my business affairs, I had no familiarity with what was to come. I only learned how much was at stake after my son was charged by his school. I have a college-age daughter, so I understand the seriousness of what young women face in life, albeit from a father's perspective. No one of course, male or female, should have to be subjected to unwelcome sexual advances or conduct. That being said, nor should anyone be falsely accused of wrongdoing as was the case with my son.
