While Attorney Riddick may be an able attorney, his lack of empathy for clients is troubling. I know that attorneys cannot be consumed by their clients cases, but they also need to be their client's best advocate. I felt like I was defending myself to opposing counsel and Riddick. For example, my ...ex-wife made an allegation which her counsel relayed to Riddick. I received an email from Riddick, advising me to stop my activity without getting my version of events. He says that he will rigorously defend you in court, but a lot happens between filing and hearing. If you have a difficult case with a spouse/ex-spouse who lies, Attorney Riddick will make you feel like you are all alone. While Riddick knew that the case would take longer than the hearing allowed, he did nothing about it until it was 24 hours before the hearing to propose to the opposing attorney that a longer hearing be set. It postponed the resolution of my case for 2 more months. When opposing counsel asked for a continuance, Riddick's advise was that the continuance would be probably granted whether I opposed it or not. I did not oppose it, but the Judge rejected it. The Judge's office told me that there are many factors that determine whether the judge will grant a continuance. The fact that the trial was previously continued probably did factor into her decision. Riddick never mentioned it. Attorney Riddick never reviewed my discovery documents before they were sent to opposing counsel. Nor did he really have a strategy for dealing with the ex-wife. An effective litigator is one who defends you both inside and outside of the courtroom.

Unfortunately this client would not follow legal advice. After hiring and firing two (2) previous lawyers he came to me for help. When he would not follow my legal advice, I told him that I could no longer represent him. Subsequently he filed a bar complaint against me which was summarily rejected by the State Bar of Georgia as being without merit. I wish him all the best in trying to work out his issues.
