Very supportive and knowledgeable

I hired Ms. Powell to help with my divorce. She was always there for me (and my ex when he needed to vent) and I never had a problem with her never returning my calls. She was awesome in court and got me everything I needed to support my 3 children. Thank you, Ms. Powell for your work!!

My pet cat (Hu Hu Halla) case against a neighbor

When my neighbor kidnapped my cat and took him to the animal shelter and lied that he was feral, which resulted in his being euthanized, Elizabeth came to my legal rescue. My case was complex and she sorted, organized, presented, and challenged with the confidence and strength the come with experien...ce and intelligence. She caught the lies, filtered out the trivia, and honed in for the legal "kill" which resulted in my winning a settlement and showing the "other side's" lawyer that her client was, indeed, lying extensively. In addition to, and as a result of her expert handling of my pet cat case, I have hired her to handle my will which I am currently working on.

Excellent work by an amazing lawyer

Following a number of requests to my landlord to install smoke detectors (among other things) and a subsequent fire in the building where I was renting, I followed Ms. Powell's tenant relocation guide here on Avvo. I hesitated to contact DPD because of possible retaliation but finally submitted a co...mplaint. After looking at the building and my unit, a DPD inspector informed me that indeed there were issues. There were zoning issues, the unit had been created from a garage without a permit, and the unit was ultimately unfit for habitation; and therefore I would have to relocate. I sent a letter to the landlord requesting the amount owed, and when he balked at paying the amounts required under both Seattle Municipal Code and the RCW, the first thing I did was contact Ms. Powell -- and I am glad I did. Within a few days of Ms. Powell's demand letter and follow-up communication with my landlord's lawyer, I had a promise for a check for the full amount (plus Ms. Powell's fees) and only a few days after that I had the check itself. She handled communication with the landlord and his attorney, she kept the flames burning under their laurels, and she managed to keep both myself and the City updated with the status of my attempt to receive the required amount. It felt like had an advocate, an expert, and a personal assistant in Ms. Powell with regard to this issue. Overall, I am thoroughly impressed with Ms. Powell's work and I would not hesitate to contact her for a landlord/tenant issue in the future.

My Experience

not sure how good of a lawyer she is in other areas of law but in the area of Landlord/Tenant issues, I personally found her totally lost in court, would have been better off with a paralegal. Elizabeth strung me along for a year then showed up in court totally dazed, confused and unprepared for batt...le resulting in me losing my home, my business and all my posessions and homeless for 6mo. I will never forgive her for betraying my trust. Instead of appealing to save me, she quit on the spot before the case was totally over leaving me to try to defend myself. BYFAR the WORST excuse for an attorney that I've ever had the misfortune to meet

Gerry Spence and Clarence Darrow could not have gotten you a better result. The matter is public record, and anyone can look it up and see what happened. The RPC's required me to get out - after trial was over - I told you that, and I got out so you could proceed on your own because I could not continue to represent you.

The Lady Chuck Norris of Tenant Law

Ms. Powell was beyond helpful. She knows her stuff and will always have my confidence. She helped me with a bad situation and is currently helping by answering any questions I have as I go through the small claims process on my own.
