We were fortunate to have the Wiscarson firm on our side after our public school district resisted accommodations for our child despite a clear diagnosis and supporting documents. This is a long overdue review of the service that Diane Wiscarson provided for our son, IH. We were really up against it. Our son was in absolute crisis mode. Our consult with Diane made it very clear that we had a legitimate issue that she could help us with. The IEP and BSP were completely non-comp...liant. Diane went to work, contacting the necessary players to get files and set up a meeting. Diane gave us hope, a plan and then meticulously followed us through the process. We had the opportunity to discuss our meetings before and after, so that we were aware of next steps. Diane was professional, empathetic and clear. She gave us firm guidance when we got rattled, and encouragement throughout! Diane doesn't get rattled, is willing to ask the tough questions, yet never acts in a hostile manner. She is always direct! We really appreciated that! She won our trust! Our outcome was well-beyond what we expected. We could not have been more pleased. Her professional relationship with many of the key actors in the process only helped to make the process smoother. What we ended up with was an IEP and BSP that worked, assignment of support staff that worked for our son and a long term educational game plan for the remainder of his HS years that has proven to be successful. We give Diane and her whole team the highest recommendation!

When we learned that the general education placement was questioned by the elementary school, we realized that we needed additional help and advice. We contacted Diane Wiscarson and were from the beginning impressed by her services, her vast knowledge and kindness and how thoroughly she was prepared... for each meeting. She offered professional support, intervened on our behalf at the school/district and was present with us at several IEP meetings. Due to her input and her interventions our son could stay in his neighborhood school and got all needed services implemented in his IEP. Diane is a wonderful person, highly knowledgeable in special education law, she has been supporting our son’s needs and even though she is a very kind person, she fights for your child’s needs. When it was time for our son to transition to middle school Diane again was a great help and advocated at the transition meetings and succeeded to receive for him the support he required at his new school. Her fees are very reasonable and her wonderful office staff and she are easy to reach for any questions. She relentlessly advocated for our son’s needs with the school, district and their attorney. We can highly recommend her, with her help our son has been able to thrive at his neighborhood schools.

I am a parent. I hired Diane after feeling berated and manipulated by our school district. Diane listened to my concerns with genuine empathy. When I was done, she took the reins, initially dismissing the extraneous thoughts clouding my focus and educated me about the points I did not understand. ... Next, we met with the school. The dynamics changed the instant she walked into the room. Diane is strong and commands respect. She knows the rules and she knows how to play. We walked out with our first 504 plans (one each for two children) and then worked together to modify as we gained further experience with the childrens’ needs.
