I had just bought a new business, when I found out that the previous business owner had not equipped the building properly. These issues were unbeknownst to me when we purchased the business and building. When the time came to open the business, we had our required business inspection. We were told by the inspector that there were multiple big items that needed to be addressed before he would allow us to open up for business. The inspector told us the previous owner did know about these problems and new it needed to be addressed before any business could be operated in this building. Very conveniently, the previous owner had made himself almost impossible to find. I cannot fathom the amount of leg work that Phil must have invested trying to find this guy, which of course he did- in South America. The previous owner had also switched attorneys’ multiple times. Each time the previous lawyer was no longer involved, Phil had to research who the new lawyer was. Throughout this entire process Phil was always optimistic and positive. He also drove up to Seattle from Oregon every time there was a hearing, even though the previous owner missed almost every single one. I also never once had to call him for updates-ever. Phil himself called 9 out of every 10 times to keep us informed and updated on every aspect of our situation. After this lengthy and daunting process, Phil won our case. Phil is one of the most intelligent individuals I have ever met and it shows in his legal practice. I would never use another lawyer unless Phil recommended them to me.
