Wail Sarieh is Amazing. And Marlene is Supportive. So how did the case get here?...as a 4th attorney in the new home state asks me that question once again in disbelief (really disbelief at the whole bizarre story, which Wail took on, and marvel at his fearlessness, creativity, and ability). The writ...ing was on the wall. I seemed to be involved in a biased courtroom that involved some games and tactics and disregard for procedure. This case had been going on for a year and as of three months before hiring Wail none of the parties in the case resided in California. My attorney had been pleading with the judge (in at least 3 occasions) to hear the motion that the case no longer belongs in California. The judge denied the request all 3 times, clearly rebuking procedure that he was supposed to hear that motion before considering custody issues. He stated each time he wanted to hear it after writing an order. With 10 days left for this order to be written, that the judge made it known he was determined to write, an attorney who I had called for some advice on these unusual courtroom happenings turned out to be my surprise link to this one of a kind attorney. She let me know there is nothing I can do about this seemingly rogue judge, it is too late, and he will write the order he seems determined to write. She further explained I will have to appeal, and my daughter will have to live with the inappropriate order until the appeals process ends, which could take up to a year. I bawled so loud, then she took a breath and said I know who you need to call, “an attorney out of Orange County, he is an expert in this jurisdictional stuff”. She hung up and called back five minutes later with the number for Wail Sarieh and said to give him a call. I called Wail the next day and explained everything to him. He explained to me that this case had been severely botched. I then had to fire my lawyer and retain Wail, after that was done there was literally a week before the judge was scheduled to write the order. Wail instructed me to get a counterpart in the state we want to transfer to, to work with him. That took about 2 days, so now we are left with five days to work with. I asked Wail if he will ask for a continuance because he just got on the case, he said no he doesn’t want to start out weak. And he and Marlene kept assuring me don’t worry this will be done. I explained my fear stemming from the fact that we have been trying to do this for a year, and certainly within the last 3 months, where it clearly seemed the case should be transferred. Marlene’s response was, “Wail wasn’t on the case before”. On November 2nd the judge met Wail for the first time (the day he planned to write the order). On November 15 he gave up jurisdiction (seemingly having made that decision after his initial meeting with Wail), and transferred the case to another state (where it is supposed to be). Wail is Amazing (enough said). And Marlene is Supportive. I can’t recall how many times during the week I called the office crying and scared, and Marlene was there to explain things to me and tell me not to worry. And even after the case was transferred she called for about two weeks after to follow up and find out what happened until the new case was open in its new home state. Amazing. Thank you. Highly recommended. They gave my daughter and I a beautiful Thanksgiving. Unreal attorney (leaving many attorneys to ask me... “how did this happen”, causing me to believe they wouldn’t have stepped out of the box as he did). Glad he exists and was recommended to me. I hope this recommendation/story helps direct someone else to him who needs him (as we clearly did), and in our case he created magic and delivered!
