Legal Separation Nightmare

I obtained a legal separation from my husband. We agreed on specific financial terms that needed to be met for a specific amount of time. A few years later, my husband reneged on the terms of our Separation Agreement. That’s when I hired Smith Legal Group. Attorney Smith jumped on my case immediate...ly and got the court to enforce the original agreement. My husband hired an attorney to try to invalidate the agreement. I was scared to death. But Attorney Smith was able to calm me down and walk me through the claims made by my husband and how the court was likely to view and treat those claims. Turns out, Attorney Smith didn’t miss a trick. He wad exactly right about what opposing counsel was trying to do and what to do about it. The end result is that my Decree was enforced and I even got my ex to pay my attorneys fees. I couldn’t have asked for a better result.

Fantastic Attorney

I hired Kurt Smith to help me with a custody issue. My kids mom and me decided to share custody of my son. But as time went on, it became clear the mom wasn't interested. She didn't do the child's reading with him. She didn't do the child's math with him. She didn't do the child's homework with ...him. As a result, my child's grades started slipping. I spoke to several attorneys, but Mr. Smith really impressed me with his knowledge of the law and his confidence that he could help get the judge to take notice of my case. Mr. Smith took my case to court and got me primary custody of my son. It wasn't an easy case. We had to go to trial. But Mr. Smith just kept telling me to stick with the program. I did and we won. Mr. Smith has a great office staff too. So glad I went with him.

Stellar Representation at Reasonable Pricing

So far Kurt & his team have been doing a great job with their preparation & representation. I can sleep a lot easier now knowing that he's not only an expert and a true artist in his craft, but he's also a realist and will not make promises he can't keep or speculate on what a judge might do...and he... will help keep your focus on what's right for your case & your family. I think a few of the bad reviews I've seen are pure sour grapes where people didn't pay for his well-earned services or can't understand a successful lawyer like his can't always get back to you at the drop of a dime any time you want, or simply don't follow his advice and it costs them. Or sensitive personalities who don't like hearing his frank & blunt candor. I DO appreciate it, because it helps ME. Thank you Kurt. Kurt doesn't yell, hot-dog & grand-stand like these typical lawyers. He is above that and it shows that he's earned the respect of lawyers & judges alike. He's calm, cool, collected -- yet will represent with the best of them. I'm so grateful that Kurt Smith & his team were referred to me. KURT, KELLEY, PATTIE & EVERYONE ELSE -- Thank you from the very bottom of my heart for your stellar help so far. These cases can be very ugly and hurtful as I have learned and he's been the beacon of hope for moving towards what's right for my family, while keeping it real. To the reviewer that complained that he yawned during consultation -- this man just worked on my response that we were forced to file at the last minute all the way to 3:43am this morning, and still showed up at 9am hearing with me and met w/ me later inpromptu when I dropped in his office @ 5pm the same day. I can certainly be empathetic if he's yawning or tired...he's a workaholic machine with many complicated cases, yet WORTH EVERY PENNY IF YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT PROTECTING YOUR FAMILY. His transparent rates on the billing statements are very fair in my opinion. They do NOT nickel and dime you and offer flat-fee retainer agreements which can actually save you a ton of money while getting amazing representation. A true good businessman who's compassionate and employs like-minded ppl. Kurt & team have earned a family lawyer from us for life and I I am beyond grateful for his help and very hopeful for the future of my loved ones.

Great! Great! Great!

I hired Kurt Smith to help me with a child support case. My ex wife was trying to collect money from me that I didn't owe. We were divorced in another country and the child support was set, but my wife was trying to get extra money from me plus interest and penalties. I tried to go to court by mys...elf to resolve the issue, but the judge wouldn't listen to me. Thank god for Mr. Smith. Mr. Smith went to court for me and showed the judge exactly what I was trying to tell the judge, but in a way the judge could understand it. I went from owing thousands and thousands of extra dollars to owing zero extra dollars. In fact, the judge ordered my ex wife to pay my attorney's fees as a punishment for lying to the court. I have read some of the other reviews on this site and agree with some of the other reviewers. Mr. Smith is cool, calm, and confident. He has a reason to be. He knows exactly what he is doing and the judges seem to love to listen to every word he says. That is really funny because I got to sit in the back of the courtroom with Mr. Smith before my hearing. I watched the judge interact with several other attorneys. Some of the attorneys made the judge mad. Some of them it seemed like the judge didn't respect. But when Mr. Smith came to the table, the judge was all smiles. I was shocked at how comfortable Mr. Smith was with the judge and how comfortable the judge was with Mr. Smith. My ex wife's attorney didn't stand a chance. He tried to interrupt Mr. Smith several times. All Mr. Smith had to say was "Your Honor" and the judge would shut the other attorney down. This is my only case so I can only speak for my case, but I would absolutely hate to be an attorney on a case against Mr. Smith. When I first went to Mr. Smith's office, he told me he had a great relationship with most of the judges. I didn't know what he meant until we got done with my hearing. At least this judge seemed to absolutely love Mr. Smith. If he has that same relationship with all of the other judges, I can't see how this guy ever loses. Anyway, great attorney. I spent a few thousand dollars, but saved over $35,000 by hiring Mr. Smith. I can't thank him enough.

Attorney's attorney

I was married to a lawyer here in town. My husband wanted to do all of the divorce papers himself so that we could "save money". My husband explained that because he is a lawyer, he knows the law. He wrote up all the paperwork and told me to sign it right away or I would get nothing. I was scared.... I almost signed. Instead, I called Mr. Smith. Mr. Smith reviewed my paperwork for free. He showed my the parts of the paperwork that worked, showed me where my husband was playing games, and showed me where my husband was 100% wrong. He explained how Nevada law REALLY worked and what a judge was likely to rule if we went to trial. I decided to hire Mr. Smith to help me. Best decision ever. Mr. Smith wrote a letter to my husband and told him about the changes I wanted to make to the paperwork. After getting the paperwork, my husband was so mad! He came home and stormed around the house for a few days. (Yes...we were still living together.) A few days later, my husband handed me a new set of divorce paperwork. Guess what was in it...EVERTHING MR. SMITH ASKED FOR!!! I signed the papers that day and we were divorced a week later. My jack*ss ex moved out (I got the house!) and I have never been happier. Best part? It cost me under a thousand dollars. I know attorneys. I was married to one. Most of the attorneys I know are total DBs. Not this guy. Chill, smart, funny, and apparently, at least based on what happened with my ex, better at the law than most other attorneys in town. I would hire him again in a second (but I don't need to because I am never getting married again.) Thanks Kurt!
