Great advice about posting on Social Media!

I sincerely appreciate Mark's advice about posting on Social Media and the negative ramifications that can occur. I posted a true but crass post about my cousin. It was inappropriate. I have seen posts about many negative posts from friends as I'm sure we all have. In a weak moment I posted true, but... inflammatory things about my cousin. I received a letter from my cousin's attorney about the post. My cousin had shunned our family for unknown reasons and dissolved her relationship with our entire family. The letter was full of alleged things I had done in regards to my cousin separate from my post. She had the attorney to write a threatening and intimidating letter and sent the same letter to my mother (her aunt). Mark pointed out to me that since I had received the letter that I should hire an attorney. He was direct but kind in his advice to me. I greatly appreciate his professionalism. Just know that consequences you never imagined can happen if you post something as I did. It has not been good for me to have spent these 6 months since I received the letter. But, he gave me hope that regardless of what the allegations in the letter were that an attorney could help me in any future issues with my cousin. Thank you, Mark!

Tough But Knowledgeable

He is not an attorney for the thin skinned or faint of heart, but he is extremely knowledgeable and sticks with you on a problem, even if it takes all day! He does come off as abrasive at times, but I'd rather have a blunt truth than a gentle lie. Just put on your big girl or boy pants and suck up yo...ur hurt feelings and you'll get awesome advice from a well informed attorney!

I must admit - this is perhaps the most objective and accurate review I have ever seen on AVVO. I will only add that my "abrasive" interaction is never intended to be so arbitrarily nor is it simply for personal gratification as I am so often accused by those being dishonest or disingenuous. To the contrary, its the natural by product of being a trial lawyer for 30 years, critically analyzing thousands of cases and also, sadly, interacting with so many people in the legal arena, both adversaries and clients that provide sculpted facts or slanted perspectives, to be diplomatic. Where legal analysis is involved, its always useful and often necessary to challenge clients with their claims and versions of "the truth" (1) to make sure they are truly accurate and (2) to gauge how well they hold up to general challenge or dispute as the other side will sure do much worse. This is especially so when the facts are confusing or require suspension of normal views or understanding of human interaction, conduct or psychology. THIS is the difference between "marketing lawyers" that tell people what they WANT to hear to get hired, and actual litigation lawyer who tell you what you NEED to hear.

This guy is actually great, got me an attorney

So, I needed to clarify that my situation was unique and that the plantiff, who is extremely wealthy like with a B, was able to bog down my defense. They actually tried an Covid-19 eviction, so I needed to find an attorney and needed to make clear the damages were if the “pierce the veil” level of... tort, So I took a chance, posted my shitty story, and boom Mark jumps in and says “you’re screwed.” Which I am by the actions of the plantiff’s actual affiliated law group, lol, I mean explain that took a few tries but as soon as I forwarded Mark’s legal opinion and eyebrow raised, and now I’ve raised a new army. Sadly, my other attorney, who was great, has to work with these Florida housing affordable housing, legal aid groups, and charities. So her situation was not being inadequate, she was just in a difficult spot. I am pleased to say I’ve signed the representation agreement and I truly have Mark to thank for it. I’ll refrain from saying which group as we are planning a reenactment of Midway right now. Mark serves a purpose, he is brutally honest, that isn’t a bad trait, in fact I am the same way in my old profession. When you ask an actuary what the answer 2+2 is, we close the door and whisper “What’s your risk tolerance, what are you willing to endure, and what resources will you deploy and sacrifice to get the answer you need?” You see the answer is never simply just 4, it’s whatever the prevailing party in a conflict says it is, and the beginning of the end of my required answer was a pro bono gift from Mark. Every tool has its job. The race is long, if you don’t like the rules, change the framework of the game.
