From the 1st phone call to the meeting of trustee's I can say I had a very comforting experience. I 1st went in for consultation and met Chad Van Horn's staff Martha and Natalia as soon as I stepped off the elevator, they greeted me with a welcoming smile and gave me a note pad with paper work ...and pen to fill out and show my reason for visiting and to make the lawyer (Chad Van Horn) I was there to consult with familiar with my situation. Before I met with Chad Van Horn I had already paid a $500 retaining fee to another law firm which I lost because I was not 100% comfortable with the law firm I paid my retainer fee to due to the fact they could not seem to answer my questions . I had a residential property in my name that I was not living in but my ex-husband still resides there and wanted to keep the property which was in a foreclosure/modification process. Mr Van Horn met with me to go over my situation and explained the pros and cons of my situation, he answered all my questions which allowed me to go forward with my Chapter 7 filing. I was given a list of all the documents that I needed to take in to Mr. Van Horn's Office to move forward with my filing process, bills, collection accounts, list of jewelry, bank account information assets etc. Once you take in what you are required to and pay your retainer fee you have a certain time to complete your payments then you are schedule for a credit counseling session then your file will be sent to the paralegal who you will sit with and go over your file and then if you still have anymore unanswered questions you will have an opportunity to sit with the lawyer along with the paralegal and ask your questions. If there is nothing else required of you, your case will be filed that same day. You will then receive a letter in the mail to advise you of your meeting with the Trustee/Creditors. For my trustee meeting Attorney Steve Weinstein was there to represent me, he met with me as soon as I stepped off the elevator and he put me at ease immediately, we went in and met with the trustee and I was out in less than 10 minutes. At the end you are required to call the office so that you can get the information to complete your final financial management class before your bankruptcy is discharge. Essentially you are responsible for how quickly your case is complete. I found Mr Van Horn to be knowledgeable, friendly, compassionate and professional. He has an open door policy when it comes on to people, I have never met with a lawyer in any field who has there personal cell phone number on there business card. This says a lot about Chad Van Horn, he is never too busy to speak with you. I personally recommend Chad Van Horn and I have already recommend him to a few people I know who could use his help in several different areas.
