In 2019 I found my husband of 20+ yrs to be in a 3 year old business partnership plus an extra marital affair with a woman whom he had described as a. male friend (a group of male friends to be exact). Needless to say the situation was complicated. Terri S. Herron was referred to me by a family who h...ad a friend who knew of her. Upon meeting Ms. Herron in one of her satellite offices , she seemed very knowledgeable of the divorce law and truly concerned about my case. I hired Ms. Herron after our first consultation. I was given access to a personal portal as well as the right to call the Ms. Herron and her office at anytime. Ms. Herron and her firm hardly ever returned my calls nor EVER gave me settlement documents to review after I filled out paperwork in the office and online. As time drew on (plus we were in the middle of COVID), Ms. Herron’s concern lessened. It was almost impossible to receive a callback or have my questions answered. Ms. Herron was directed by myself to contact me only by my cell phone number so the office knew when I was calling. Eventually my spouse and I decided to receive marital counseling to work on the marriage so I contacted the office and Terri S. Herron picked up by chance ( I think I surprised her) . I explained to Ms. Herron the situation and asked her if there was a chance that I could get a partial refund instead of having her on retainer. She said that a lot of paperwork had been drawn up (as stated earlier, I NEVER received any documentation for review!) and she wasn’t sure how much I would receive. She asked me how much did I pay. . I told her the amount. She said I had paid fior a contested divorce but in actuality she was working on a a uncontested case for me ( my husband wasn’t contesting in the beginning). She agreed I was due a refund and we would discuss the refund amount (minus the fee for “said” paperwork) and to call her in about 2 weeks because she was going on vacation and wouldn’t be in the office. I agreed because I too was going on vacation. Upon my return I called the office several times and left messages for Ms Herron to call me with the receptionist. After this didn’t work, I contacted Ms. Herron directly by private portal. I explained our discussion and agreement and why I was contacting her by private portal email. She never replied or responded. I sent her one more email this time to include copies to Devon Herron, Ms. Herron’s family member who also works at the firm and a person whom I had spoken to on one occasion before. I questioned Ms. Herron ‘s honesty and told her I believed she was avoiding me intentionally plus saying things just to pacify me when we had our discussion. I didn’t threaten her but just stated facts. No reply from either but guess what? ….they deleted my portal access!
I called the office and asked what was going on and for copies of my case and incriminating evidence I had turned in on my husband. No reply, continued avoidance and unanswered calls from Ms. Herron and her office. I shouldn’t have given up on this issue but I was at my wits ends.
