In January 2014, I contacted Ms. Medvin after being referred by a family friend. I teach at the university level and found myself struggling with a legal question posed by one of my students. Initially, I didn't think an attorney would take time to speak to me about my question. I've previously dealt... with several attorneys who seemed too busy to be bothered. My question specifically dealt with the admissibility of scientific evidence in our court system. I am an intelligent professional who has never been in trouble with the law nor close to being arrested in my entire life. I've always had the greatest respect for Police Officers until this one. I was horrified and shocked when I was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct in Public and Resis...ting Arrest. My boyfriend is a big guy and body builder who witnessed the entire event and was my witness. I’m a tall, thin 55 yr. old woman. The taller than me young Officer panicked for some reason and called for backup. 15 police cars showed up to find me in handcuffs sitting on the ground. I had to go in front of the Magistrate twice. Marina Medvin simply knows how to fight for your rights. She represented me on a driving on a suspended license while on probation for DWI, and improper lane change in Alexandria. She quickly got the driving on a suspended charges dropped and the fine for the improper lane change reduce to only $30 d...ollars in less than i could ever expected. I only had to appear in court once which also made it convinient for me not to have to keep taking time off work to attend court. She was nothing short of amazing. I found Marina Medvin to be incredibly combative and cold to me during the time we were attempting to establish a relationship. Her unprofessional conduct included yelling at me for cooperating with law enforcement and continuously telling me that she could no longer speak to me unless I paid her in ...full (she refused a payment plan and later agreed to $500.00 upfront with the remainder of the balance within several days. She accompanied me to my arraignment and as soon as the judge began to call names, she walked away from me in a move to show she did not represent me. Ultimately I decided the following day that this relationship was not going to work. I informed her of such and requested my $500.00 back. She attempted to keep the funds from me and I had to argue contract law to her and warn her that the Bar Association considers this type of action a severe ethical violation and I would be forced to report her actions. She quickly refunded the money. I'm a well educated person with a successful business who happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Holding a government clearance, I was seeking someone supportive and professional. Unfortunately Marina Medvin was anything but this. Not recommended.
