Bill Padder-Did Not Complete the Work

From the first phone call, Mr. Harrian's staff was interested in bill padding, asking for the repeated spelling of a well-known surname up to three times. He also insisted on jumping onto calls over clerical tasks like a check his own staff lost and charging full his full hourly rate for his time on ...the phone. Another member of his staff looked at a beautiful photo of my son and I and asked if I was the proud grandmother. This persisted. He also called my primary Family Law Attorney and cast me in a negative light, allegedly made remarks about difficult women at a key point in my negotiations. The work he did actually do should have taken half of an afternoon and then he abandoned it. Not worthy of your time.

When a new client calls the firm for an appointment we do fill out a form so we can conduct a "conflict of interest" check. The spelling of one's name is very important and if their was a bad phone connection or something else occurring, it would be normal to ask the person to repeat the spelling. The staff does not bill for this task nor do we bill for merely administrative tasks. The firm has never billed a client to resolve billing questions or tracking down checks. It is odd that this person would report that I billed a client for the phone call as I never would bill a client in front of another client even if it were a legitimate billing item because I would have had to state the client's name which would be a breach of confidentiality. I cannot really address her comments about the picture but it seems like a goodwill gesture gone wrong. I apologize for my staff's misstep. I would never call a client's family law attorney and cast a client in a bad light. I might call the attorney and tell them that the mutual client did not have a legitimate or strong claim but that is my job even if it does not support my clients goals. The work I do generally takes 60-90 days to process an order. Her last comments are a bit confusing to me so I cannot fully respond but I would never "abandon" a case unless there was nothing I could do and that surely would have been fully communicated to her.

Mishandled

I hired Harrian to review my case, they insisted on phone communication charging me by the hour, only to waste my time with silly questions and conversation that wasnt relatable to my case, I had to get them back on track many times. At the end he reviewed my case and offered to work with me, but I d...eclined because of the experience I already had.

During the Covid-19 crisis we try to do all consultations and meetings by phone. The consultation fee has always been $50 for the first one-half hour and the normal hourly rate for any time above one-half hour. Most all initial consultations can be handled in one-half hour. Sometimes what a client may deem to be "silly" questions are important to get a complete background of the facts in order to give solid advice. I certainly would invite "John" to call me so that we can discuss his concerns. I have many consultations each week and I do not recall anyone appearing discontented with their consultation but would be more than happy to discuss this with him at any time.
