Pleased with her service, easy to talk with.

I ended tenancy of a renter. On the move out date the renter filed a Sexual protection order. Through the delays with the renter obtaining counsel, dismissing counsel, requesting court appointed council and trying to negotiate a resolution, Liza clearly guided me through all the proceeding. She mad...e suggestions and listened to my concerns. Her fees and expectations were spelled out up front and I feel I was fairly treated. I would recommend her to others in need.

The absolute best person to have in your corner.

Liza helped my boyfriend and I through a very unfortunate event which resulted in my arrest for domestic violence. With a lack of understanding for the domestic violence laws that apply when the police are called in Washington State -- we found ourselves in a situation where my boyfriend was worried ...about my mental wellbeing after I learned of a serious breach in trust. When the police came, they asked about a broken a picture frame and several other small items. Ultimately they arrested me for domestic violence (mandatory in WA state) and property destruction. My boyfriend pleaded telling them that is not what he was seeking in this. But alas, on top of one of the most emotionally hurtful personal betrayals of trust, I was now going to spend the night in jail. I was in beyond disbelief and did not handle the situation well. Later when i went before the judge, I learned they had tacked on 4 other charges -- one of which being assault of an officer (for stepping on his foot by accident-- I am 5ft weighing 105 lbs) It was a nightmare. This was my first arrest ever. My boyfriend went before the judge telling him this was a huge misunderstanding and that I was not violent and that he was simply worried about me driving and my well being. Despite that, I was released and given a 3 year no contact order with my boyfriend pending my court date. My boyfriend hired Liza to represent me. Upon our first meeting Liza was very upfront about the fact it would be extremely challenging to have 5 charges dropped -- despite the absurdity of them all. She urged me to immediately sign up for alcohol classes 3x per week and start seeing a personal therapist in the month leading up to my first court appearance. I did those things. We asked for a continuance at the first appearance, the prosecutor came back with an offer to drop all of the charges except assault of an officer with an SOC agreement, we didn't take that offer (in body cam footage there was no proof of this), Liza asked for one more continuance, then ultimately she worked a deal with the prosecutor to drop ALL of the charges at the completion of my 4 months of alcohol classes (2x per week). The no contact order was lifted. After almost 5 months of emotional ups and down-- it was over. I was not going to have to enter an agreement with the state, meet with anyone, take more classes etc. And while hiring a great lawyer isn't necessarily cheap -- neither is the alternative of taking mandatory classes or therapy that cost $100 a session, multiple times a week, over the course of years. Liza was such an amazing advocate for me during this time. She was open to any questions any time, willing to explain things to me as many times as I needed. She was understanding, yet straight forward -- something I really appreciated. I would recommend Liza to anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation.

Falsely Charged w/ Felony Assault 2 DV

I found myself on AVVO.com looking for a Criminal Defense DV Attorney after a Nuclear Bomb went off in my life. My freedom and life, as I knew it, were in serious jeopardy. I was facing serious time in jail and a Felony conviction. I interviewed two attorneys. I am so thankful that I hired Liza! ... I hired her not only because of her reviews and experience with DV cases, but because, she told me that she was going to take time to get to know me and really understand the background of the case and why I had been charged. She did exactly what she said and cares about her clients and will fight hard to win your case. She has the skill, knowledge and expertise needed to communicate effectively with the prosecutor and ensure that he/she understands every detail of the case as well as she does. Within three months, my Felony Assault DV charge was dismissed with prejudice! In my eyes, Liza had performed a miracle. The prosecutors exact words were.." This case is dismissed in the interests of justice". Those words are rarely written by a prosecutor in a dismissal. Liza is directly responsible for that statement and I nor my family will ever be able to thank her enough! I HIGHLY recommend hiring Liza Burke to represent you. When it comes to your freedom and life, do not take a chance. Hire the best! Liza Burke is definitely one of the very best!

Tech Executive falsely accused by Ex-wife

I found Liza after attempting to work with another attorney without her experience in domestic violence. I switched over and hired Liza, 8 days prior to the actual court hearing. She worked day and night for 8 days and nights to understand, distill and master the noisy social and cultural context of ...the case. Her court presence is phenomenal. She commands the court respect like no other attorney in my experience. After a 55 minute hearing, the commissioner dismissed the DVPO. My ex-wife filed for revision. She prepared the revision case and got the revision judge to agree with the lower court. She also helped prepare the family law aspects of the case by sharing her vast network of attorneys. Liza can help you survive vengeful and false allegations. Just be truthful and let her lead the way.

On a 1 to 5 scale, Liza Burke is a 10

My son needed an attorney to represent him in a protection order case and since I had worked in the court system in the past I was familiar with Liza Burke. Having observed her in court I knew she was always prepared , always professional , and an expert in her field and I recommended that my son con...tact her. He left a message on her website on a Saturday and she contacted him the next day, a Sunday. That was our first indication, which held true throughout our four months with her, that she closely monitors her cases, always keeps in touch , was always available and gives over 100% effort to her cases. She was also a haven of reason and calm through very emotionally -charged events. Her stated goal at the beginning was to get the protection order dismissed without a trial and that is exactly what she did. The opposing counsel was, to put it bluntly , a real jerk. She called him on his antics and put a supreme effort into achieving the goal of dismissal , but I am sure that having to deal with the other attorney was emotionally draining for her. After the dismissal, she referred us to another attorney for parenting plan issues. I am sure that anyone who is lucky enough to have Liza Burke agree to represent him or her will agree with us when it is all over that she rates a 10 on a scale of 1 to 5. She is a superb attorney.
