Family Practice

I have rated this law firm with 5 stars. Bruce's team, and included him, are professional , honest and are very explicit when talking to you about your case. They give you options and help guide you to your goal. I give thumbs up to Malinda, the paralegal, who answered questions and always returned ...my calls immediately. If you want a firm that gets the job done, this firm is for you.

Bruce and team extend legal matters and optimze for money for the lawfirm

Bruce and his law firm are professional and courteous. The main issue I had with them during our three month proceedings was that they tend to instigate matters versus trying to resolve things amicably. Throughout the case, I got the impression that Bruce and team were trying to optimize for the mo...ney brought into their law practice by extending the case versus looking out for my family's interest. Additionally, I thought Bruce did not research topic thoroughly with regards to out-of-state rules and prior cases that were brought up in the hearing. He seemed stumped when the opposing counsel brought up a case reference he was not familiar with and did not leave a good impressions with the judge. Overall, I would not recommend Bruce Clements for family law cases, where you need a non-aggressive approach and want to settle out-of-court if possible.

This review may not have been written by the client. The client was seeking better visitation with his children after his ex moved with the children to another state. During the proceedings the client's current wife wanted me to seek more visitation time than the client wanted. The case was finally settled on terms acceptable to the client, but not his wife. After the settlement the client seemed to be satisfied, but his current wife was not.

Excellent in very complicated divorce

Bruce Clement and his team did a wonderful job during my very complicated divorce. There were some turns of events that were handled with professionalism and knowledge I never could have imagined. Some of these events included one of my children not being biologically mine, working with my ex who mo...ved out of state, and getting jurisdiction transferred from that state to Washington. The other thing that impressed me was that I was always given options based on what Bruce and his team had seen in the past. Every judge we saw during this entire process praised Bruce for his professionalism and for having absolutely "everything in order as usual", to quote one judge. Clement Law Center is located in King County and my divorce was in Pierce County. The judicial system knows Bruce over a very wide area and every response is positive. Thank you Bruce, Peter, and Shelly for everything.

Very expensive, not necessary

Bruce is old and has the experience in family law. However, I think that there are other lawyers who will do what he will do for cheaper. First, he is trying to extend the case as much as possible so that he can charge you for anything. They even charge you 10 minutes spending time for reading yo...ur two lines email. Second, he doesn't do very much work. His paralegals do all the work. And, he gets informed about your case when he is ready to go to court. I kept him for about 5 months. And, I paid him $15,000. I don't think he deserved it. Now, I have another lawyer whose fees are very similar, but is very reasonable. He is not trying to charge me any chance he gets. Also, he is trying to resolve the conflicts with my ex by negotiating and he is trying to finish the case ASAP.

My firm worked hard on this interstate custody case, and were close to a satisfactory result when the client decided to retain another attorney. I shared my files & thoughts with the new attorney, who benefitted significantly from the work and trial preparation my firm had done.

Keep lookng if you have a high-conflict case!!!

Mr. Clement's staff was exceptional in their duties. I waited six months after trial ended to ensure I would write a fair review and not just write something while I was angry. I will say that if you have a fairly easy case he may be the attorney for you. On the other hand, if you have a high-conflic...t case that will be extensive, confusing, and exhausting I would not recommend him for he will not dedicate the time needed for such a case. The judge at my trial went almost completely against what the GAL had recommended to the court because Mr. Clement failed completely in corroborating what the GAL recommended. Prior to trial I attempted to give him a copy of the book Splitting stating that this will be what this case involves and he flat our refused to even look at it stating, "that's not how the courts work". That statement and his refusal to believe in his client's crazy story is still costing my daughter and me dearly. I have since spoken with other attorneys that can't understand why most of my evidence, that clearly painted what was going on, was dismissed by Mr. Clement because he deemed it all as irrelevant. Again, if you have a high-conflict case, .... keep looking. If you and your ex are working together, then this is your man. His firm will draft amazing paperwork for you both. I hate writing this but prior to retaining him I explained that my case was going to be extremely high-conflict and he assured me that his firm was prepared. He failed my daughter and I both and I don't want anyone else to have to go thru that. These cases are hard enough ... financially and mentally! Also, he is extremely knowledgeable but just not in dealing with high-conflict cases which is why I only rated him as Fair.

The client was upset because I did not try to introduce a book the client liked ("Splitting") as evidence in the case. I tried to explain that the book was not admissible as evidence, but the client unfortunately concluded that I was unreasonably ignoring his wishes. The judge gave more visitation time to the client, but not custody. Trying to introduce the book would not have helped the client's case.
